If Vanderbilt and Wood are healthy 4 months from now, when the playoffs start. And If we got Kessler and Sexton, or Vucevic, we are in contention in the West. Conference Finals at least. The Western Conference isn't that strong, OKC is the only elite team in the West.

They should just move them to the very old skool San Diego Sports Arena.
Wait, that won’t work because it’s more about making money than giving the fans a good distraction from the insanity.

I agree, the West is deep but isn't that scary at the top. Obviously OKC is extremely good, but the Grizzlies and Rockets are good regular season teams but playoff pretenders IMO. And then everyone from 4th to like 11th is in the same tier, including us without making any trades.

You guys have convinced me on Kessler. Fixes the nin AD minutes, makes defense better against everyone, fixes the rebounding b*******, and get you a counter to Jokic.

I loved the Bubble team so I'm all in. The fact his contract allows you to get him without having to lose someone from a thin but talented roster is big as well

yep. will be very interested to see if he goes and what he goes for, but we should be in on the bidding. he should be the top target, imo.

You're probably right. Luka + rim protection/lob threats + at least league average 3pt shooting is so tough to beat in the playoffs. I keep thinking Kyrie is going to drop off given the history of small guards over 30 and his own injury history, but his stats are rock solid again this year.

you're gambling on him getting more serious about his career. maybe it doesn't happen, but he'd be leaving a ton of cash on the table if he doesn't get another max deal. i kind of expect him to at least pull it together in time to sign another deal.

maybe he doesn't. like i said, i'm not giving up distant future unprotected picks for him.

Cooper Flagg scored an Atlantic Coast Conference freshman record 42 points to help No. 4 Duke hold off Notre Dame 86-78 on Saturday and stay unbeaten in conference play.

The 6-foot-9 player made 11 of 14 shots, 4 of 6 3-pointers and 16 of 17 foul shots. He also had seven assists and six rebounds

Btw something similar to that scored Olivari, but he's was nt projected to be 1 draft pick.
P.S.Record for career scoring in Duke history belongs to JJ.Redick- 2769 points

that's exactly what people said regarding Irving, and his history was even worse.

see how that turned out for Dallas.

He also leads Duke in PPG, RPG, APG, SPG and BPG. I'd be tanking for "that" ;)

Irving had already won a title in Cleveland though, he had proven when locked in or motivated, or in the right place mentally, however we want to put it, he could win. Zion has proved NOTHING.

On another note, we dodged a cannonball with this guy. Who was it that said guys would show if they were right for this team or not by if they were willing to join, or something like that, Kobe? Yeah, we’ve seen these guys that passed on us prove they wouldn’t have been built for it. We can criticize LeBron all we want, fairly and unfairly, but he’s built for it

Zion is an MVP level talent that why you take the risk. In fact I'd try to do it with Lebron still here so he actually get someone with the authority and track record that he has to respect. You're betting on getting him out of that s***show in NO and with a mentor he can turn it around. The talent has been consistently there just not the effort in keeping his body in the best shape and the Lakers have the dude with the best work ethic in terms of that right there for him.

Yeah it was Kobe. He said the Lakers shouldn't be trying to convince someone to join the team. "if you need to be convinced to come to the Lakers, you're not Lakers' material and we don't want you"

On Zion, I understand the argument. He's a unique talent that can be in the top of the league. The possibility of getting him in the cheap is enticing. The argument of having Bron mentoring him is strong too.
But I really don't think he has it. There's just people that don't love the profession. Not even saying he doesn't like basketball, I mean the profession of basketball player. He just missed the flight to a game, just after returning from a 3 month injury and playing again. How do you explain that? And it was bad enough that he got suspended by the team, so surely not a justifiable absence, otherwise the team wouldn't go to this length.
He looks like someone who enjoys life and is not interested in forgoing such life to be a pro basketball player, with all the discipline, rules and commitment it requires.
He's likely one of many of those talented college players that never make it to the league. He just happened to be INSANELY talented that just that alone took him to the NBA. But he's still that "kid who never made it"
