Exactly. Now a bunch of these kids are going to jump on this guy's bandwagon because he hit a half-court shot LOL.

Perhaps Brooklyn is the only team that was willing to take Russell? I seriously doubt that, because expiring contracts are always in demand by the trade deadline. Beating Memphis or Golden State? to the punch for DFS sounds a little suspicious too IMO. Maybe something was going on behind the scenes that prompted moving Tinkerbell so quickly. It took us out of any shot at a major move though.

OKC-Cleveland was a great battle, where Cleveland won bc they're bigger than OKC. D-Mitch sucked, but their big men got more o-rebs and FTs, and that was the difference. Chet will change that, but that's not my point here. My point is, trade for Kessler. An AD+Kessler frontcourt would dominate defensively and solve the Lakers issue of being at the bottom of the league in boards. LeBron, AD & AR can carry the offense, but to be a contender we need better defense.

I agree completely that we need better defense, but in order to be a contender, we would also need an excellent POA guard who also isn’t a liability on offense(Gabe ain’t it). Now, if somehow Vando could be resurrected and ramped up in the next few weeks, we could be okay without this needed addition.
In order to acquire both a good big and guard, it will take all three available picks. Huge decision for Rob to make: decide to go all now and gamble on this team going all the way in the next two seasons, or hold onto his valuable cards and use them for the rebuild.
You guys already know which path I think he should take.

We only hold 2 FRPs, for 2029 and 2031.
We also have the top4 protected 2027, but that really only holds any value with Jazz, that hold that pick.

That link is wrong. We can trade the 2031 pick.

Revisiting the "Lakers unwilling to trade Rui" topic from a couple days ago, bc I didn't see this linked then, but Pincus backpedaled on that and blamed others for aggregating or misinterpreting his words:

That doesn't make any sense. What "all-star" are we realistically going to get for Rui? Ingram is a bad fit. McCollum doesn't help our defensive issues. Dejounte is a bad fit with Reaves. I like LaVine an awful lot, but he also doesn't help on defense, but his offense is so overwhelmingly good, that he would be worth it, without 1st round picks. In any case, a trade for him at this point would require too lopsided of a trade in terms of number of players. Fox would require Reaves to be included. Zion is looking awesome, but would also be a bad fit. Not sure what all-star they are thinking of.

Someone forgot to tell Jimmy that he can only sign for MLE lol

Let's say in the summer before the start of the new season Butler refuses the option in Miami which is 52 millions and Phoenix trade Beal doesn't matter where,Phoenix is still over the cap and can offer Jimbo only MLE about 13 million per season

How bout Rui for Kessler and eff the picks and keep the core together with AR, Max, DK, Kessler and AD. LeBron gives us what he can while still here which ain't chopped liver for crissakes and you've still got a starting competitive lineup for a much easier rebuild after he's done. Good BIG player now over good-great small player which when in their primes we ALREADY have on the team.

okc's current team was built on calling pg's bluff like this one.

that said, i doubt the list of suitors was long (or even exists?).

if i'm beal, i'm pretty annoyed by this. i might even leak through my agent that i would only waive my no-trade clause for certain teams, and not name miami.

Yeah but he doesn't fit that all-star criteria that Pincus is talking about.

I don't care. Better him if we can get Danny to take him over Knecht with the protection off one pick and a 2nd first and whatever else to grease the deal. I'd bet anything JJ if you put it to him hard who he would rather give up .... Rui or DK, looking at their futures from where they are now .... he'd ship Rui out. Easily.

I want young 23 year old Kessler as much now as I wanted Edey before the draft. We need a gawddamed starting caliber BIG man. And best of both worlds if we can keep DK. We got him in the draft and not Edey.

Game tonight is rescheduled as it should be. Things are crazy in LA right now with the fires far from contained.

I'm in favor of a Kessler trade, but I am not as passionate about it as many others are. Kessler is more like a good insurance policy for the present, and somebody who could take over for AD when he leaves. For example, if AD were to request a trade two years from now, we wouldn't have to worry about scrambling for a rim protector to replace him. With that said, if we are in win-now mode, I think we would be better served going for a perimeter guard type, especially considering JJ prefers to go small.
