Here's a crazy stat. AOC's 7 wins tie him for 14th all-time among Raiders QBs.

He has also now thrown as many TD passes as Russell with 10 INTs vs. Russell's 23. Sorry to dredge this up.

 

Good: LVR have a single (I think) Pro Bowler this year - Brock Bowers. What a season!

Bad: Vrabel is already interviewing for other positions...

Johnson has overseen one of the best offenses in the NFL, as his offenses have been in the top 90% of offenses in yards and points scored. He had the top offense in 2024. They've done it with Jared Goff, an above average QB, but not someone who had this level of sustained success prior to teaming up with Johnson.

Glenn has overseen pretty average defenses in his four seasons. In fact, they've mostly been below average. His teams have been in the 25% and 34th% in yards and points allowed. Patrick Graham's, by comparison, have been 40th and 39th by comparison.

If we have to choose one of these guys, I like Johnson. He's young, and we might be able to lock him up for, say four years on a friendly deal for both sides. Let him build up the team in his vision.

Mark Davis hired Korn Ferry, an organization that does searches to fill positions. They've done some GM and Head Coach searches for the NFL. Among the head coaches they've helped hire:

Pete Carroll - Seattle
Andy Reid - Chiefs
Jim Harbaugh - Michigan
Bruce Arians - Bucs

What they all had in common was a good history of winning, at whatever level they'd been at.

Arians 49-30-1 (+2.9) (also 9-3 as interim)
Harbaugh 44-19 (+5.9) in the NFL prior to Michigan, 29-21 at Stanford (+5.9)
Carroll 33-31 in the NFL (+1.0), 97-19 at USC (it's a huge positive number, but it takes time, as I have to look at each season individually)
Reid 130-93-1 before KC (+3.4)

So, my system would have ranked these coaches this way, based only on NFL stats:
Harbaugh
Reid
Arians
Carroll.

How did they fare at their next job, the one they were hired for?
Harbaugh (went 89-25 at Michigan, won a national title)
Reid (has gone 143-53, with three titles)
Arians (has gone 49-30-1, with one title)
Carroll (went 137-89-1 with one title)

Pros: His offenses have been pretty good.
Cons: He doesn't run a defense or make personnel decisions.

Aaron Glenn DC
-Tentative score: +2.5
Pros: His overall score is great.
Cons: None of his defenses have performed well statistically before this season (7th best defense).

Todd Monken?
-Tentative score: +1.8

Pros: His Baltimore teams have been elite on offense.
Cons: He has more poor seasons (4) than above average seasons (2).

It's so hard to evaluate these guys before they're in HC position. I'd take Johnson out of any of these guys. After that, I don't know. Whatever team Monken is on won't have Lamar Jackson. A team could have a Jared Goff type player.

 

Vrabel has been hired by the Pats. Bummer.
