i'm still not entirely sure why chicago makes this move. nnaji is considered a bad contract right now. he has played 4 years, done jack s*** in them, and got max's contract, basically. denver is desperate for depth and won't put him on the floor, man.

furthermore, porter jr. is solid, but overrated and overpaid, imo. his deal is non-guaranteed in 26-27. lavine has a player option that year. both players are considered injury risks, but i'd argue porter is the bigger risk because his problems are in his back.

i guess denver could throw some pick swaps (they have only their '31 pick available to move, i think?).

i don't know, taking on bad long-term money for, at best, one year of salary relief (two years from now) and a downgrade on the principal player? that's a big loss, imo. i wouldn't do it.

been beating that drum forever, but the league won't do it because it will cut into courtside seating is my guess.

    lol.

i don't believe the interest in kuzma at all.

    dlo/wood for ball works
    gabe/vando for ball also works

i'd give no picks in either situation (maybe a 2nd in the second scenario).

Why in the world would we want Lonzo back? Can someone please explain that to me?

I'm sorry but a 26 yo forward with a big contract, a hx of back issues, and who can't create for himself is the ideal piece for a rebuilding franchise? I swear Krause is the most underrated GM in NBA history. This s***show Reinsdorf has allowed to happen to a premier NBa franchise outside of the Rose years is bonkers. The charitable reading is this all smoke and mirrors and they want Porter to move him again (which is what I would do similar to Portland picking up Brogdon in the Dame trade. The market for Porter seems limited so again I just don't get it either but it makes more sense)

if we truly hate dlo as much as it seems, he's another expiring contract who, if healthy, actually fits perfectly here. high iq, defense, can catch and shoot (which he couldn't the first time here). problem (as it was here before) if obviously health. but if he came on a 2 for 1 of dead weight and no picks, i'm open to it.

yeah, see my post above. no idea why chicago would consider it. again, taking back nnaji to make the money work is nuts. hilarious that whenever we're floated in rumors, like nobody will take dlo or gabe without firsts attached, but they'll take four years of nnaji just to help the good ol' nuggets out of their considerable jam. alright.

i also mentioned before that despite my misgivings on porter, i'd sort of love to pick him up in the aftermath jrue-style, and then maybe catch the nuggets in the playoffs and have him get revenge.

moving the 3 pt line back wouldn't help because you already have guys shooting 3s from the top of the logo every night

bringing back hand checking wouldn't do much either. they pretty much allow it in the playoffs and you still have guys jacking up 3 after 3

even changing the 3 second rule to 5 seconds after the player gets the ball would help give players down low an advantage. the 3 in the key rule is nothing more than a relic from the days when big men ruled the game

I'm not sure there is a good fix when the core problem is that 3 pts vs. 2 pts is too much of a premium for accomplishing something that isn't that difficult anymore.

lol, i saw someone else say alley oops. i think the issue there is you'll get into a lot of "what's a dunk" arguments plus you might invite some serious injuries trying to contest those.

How about a "shot in the paint"? But seriously, eliminating corner 3 and getting rid of 3 seconds solves the problem easily. They don't want to solve it, however.

Still need to be a top 10 defensive team to have a chance.

Depends on what the league is shooting for. The three reminds me of the "long ball" era in MLB (Bonds, Canseco, McGwire, etc. era). Kind of better though, because in a sense, more average Joe's could make it to the leaue if they develop a three ball. They don't need to have a 40' vertical. It's been abused though. What did the MLB do to adjust? They seem to be less home run obsessed these days. Ironically I think analytics could help an awful lot in terms of finding the solution. Probably not that complicated though. Maybe even some sociological issues involved, etc. A lot to unpack but they could come up with a good solution that is not gimmicky/cringeworthy. The Dodger fans put us to shame I could tell you that.

I would need at least 2 seconds back to take on the always injured Lonzo.
Yeah, Kuz interest is all from his camp.

i don't know...you still need to defend. cole swider can shoot the eyes out, but a) has trouble getting clean looks against real comp and b) cannot guard anyone and is a huge liability in any team defensive scheme.

even duncan robinson, who is more of a movement shooter and a little more athletic has been pretty much relegated to a 9th man despite being a really good shooter.

    that said:

let 'em do it. only a few guys can actually produce good ppp on that kind of play, if that. if curry decided to just dance and logo pull up every trip down, they'd lose by 40 every night.

still on just calling the game like the rules state, but that's apparently impossible.

Yeah, you need to be able to defend. There is a lot of factors involved. Part of it is just people these days, man. Whenever I say stuff like that youngsters get mad at me so my apologies I'd that's the case.

There are a lot of reasons for the drop in ratings and at least 50% of it is not what's happening in the court imo. It's the fans, and sociological factors, etc. I could go on and on. Laker games are selling out every night and it's quiet. It's like a corporate atmosphere in there.
