that's a great segment, and i agree 100% that in addition to being front and center here (as max was saying earlier), you have this idea that you're going to be traded any minute. so hard to buy into a role. add in underperformance, and it's a recipe for disaster.

this is why i hate hate hate when lebron puts pressure on the front office to make moves. like...you're talking about trading the guys who are setting screens for you and running back on defense, etc. you think knowing they're going to be replaced is motivating better performance? no.

That's what I am saying. "Defended well at times" This is the similar verbiage that various media folks are using to describe Kuzma, but they seem to be in favor of bringing him back for whatever reason. Maybe it's just to make some kind of trade (any trade). Or maybe it is because he was terrific with the media, idk. But ideally, you don't trade for a player for their media relations skills.

Idk...So why do they do the same s*** after the trade deadline? They know for a fact, that they aren't getting traded then. These guys make too many excuses, all of em. Stars on down to the bench riders, it's always something external, never mostly them.

It's a league wide thing, you are in the NBA making millions to play basketball, Everyone is under some kind of pressure, it comes with the job, suck it up.

What does making millions have to do with performance? You don't shoot better because you're paid more. Actually, it may make you shoot worse.
It's trademark sports psychology. The mental aspect of sports is as important as your talent. I'm surprised in 2024 is still underrated by you.
That's why the best are all mentally strong. Kobe, MJ, Bron, Durant, etc. Listen to what they say in interviews. It's a skill and very rare. Confidence can make or break you, so anything that affects that needs to be addressed.
That whole "shut up and do it" approach is outdated. That's why all old school head coaches are out of the league with the exception of Pop who's a legend. Most of today's HC are younger and aware of the importance of this.

I don't know if I'd go that far. There's no new news here.

Evan is a click seeking hack. He went from covering the Suns to aggregating (which he was good at, but didn't get him enough attention from) to "reporting." Which is taking the current real reports and baselessly connecting dots or reaching just enough with speculation being reported as fact to get traction.

The only new bits of reporting on this from the Bulls side is this

KC is legit, but all he's saying is for the math to math, Porter has to be involved.

Who knew, Denver's gm is working the phone (at least, that what it looks like). Rob is twiddling his thumbs, waiting for Woods and Vanderbilt to evaluate the team i guess.

So the Nuggets would presumably start Murray/LaVine/Braun/Gordon/Jokic? That's a more dynamic offensive team. LaVine can do all the movement shooting and spot-up stuff that MPJ does while also having way more juice off the dribble. There's something to be said for the loss of size, though. Braun is pretty strong and can defend 3s, but I like him more as a big 2 than a full-time 3.

This is good for the Nuggets, as long as LaVine can stay healthy. It's a very dynamic, versatile team with him in Denver.

Show me some evidence on that. There are only 5 HC in the NBA under 40, I believe, and 3 of them will be 40 this season. So most of today's HC are not "younger" at all.

The mental aspect is important in every highly paid profession. Confidence makes or breaks you in competitive sports? Gee that's a profound statement. Who knew?

Show me some evidence on being paid more makes you shoot worse. WTF are you talking about? They make millions to play basketball, they can hire their own shrink, or lose their jobs. Foh with that coddling BS.

Same Memphis team that Lakers had no problem with in their last game , is annihilating GSW by 30 points at half time.
After 3 quarters it is 50 freaking points lol

despite the injury concerns, I would still go for Timelord over any other option if we could get him without a FRP. He just has a lot more upside. I genuinely think he's one of the league's best defenders when fit.

investigating lol. as if the teams are all colluding with one another to shoot as many 3s as possible

there are simple solutions to this problem. why not start with giving teams a limit on the amount of 3s they can shoot per game? let's say each team gets 20 3s per game and after that, any shot beyond the 3 pt line only counts as 2

something else that would help. coming down hard on the illegal screens that lead to these wide open 3s. every game you see defenders get clobbered by screens that result in made 3s with no call

or if you really want to have fun, get rid of the 3 second rule. give big men an advantage down low

Holy s*** what total domination by Memphis: both Curry and Drayroids held to no FG's made. That's insane.
Goes back to the Lakers are a legit good team if AD/Lebron/AR can stay healthy which is a big if of course

yeah, i laughed at the investigation stuff. and i think jj's rebuttal on this idea yesterday was fair, even though i'm one who thinks "too many threes make the game less fun to watch".

that said, i think limiting those attempts artificially is gimmicky (but i guess so was making a shot worth more points from a certain distance without understanding that over time that distance would become much more attainable via practice). anyway, i'd move the line out further before i limited attempts.

i also like the three seconds rule because it allows other plays at the rim. if you get rid of it for offense, you have to get rid of it for defense. fiba just has offense, like the nba used to, but in the nba, i think you need both, again, to allow more plays at the rim.

where i do agree is simply calling moving screens. i could go on my much larger rant here, but one of the biggest problems with the nba is departure from their own written rules. the block/charge, verticality, moving screens, etc. just get these things right and things will clear up a lot. i see people calling for allowing handchecking again, and i'm like: no--that was the problem. handchecks were never legal; we just sort of...decided to allow it despite the rules! just like the slide under charge call that the league has gotten better at but still messes up because it gradually turned into "player must be statue to draw offensive foul"--FALSE!! read the rules, man. if you call offensive fouls properly (offensive arm bar, SGA, you're fouled out in the first quarter), guys won't feel like they have to handcheck to play. oh no the rant went on anyway.

I agree with less gimmicks. They can get rid of the shorter corner 3 distance and make the floor bigger. That will both help offense organically but also reduce the over reliance on 4 out corner 3 offenses
