In ASG with zero defense that's 12 minutes... maybe.

4 games, each is 1 quarter in length... should keep to the same duration/ad buys.

You know the players are going to chuck 3s even more now. Draft Dame and Steph and tell them the goal is to get to 14 made 3s.

btw, this is why i wanted to go for lavine in the summer, when it was truly a buy-low situation. now it's a bidding war that i want no part of.

Same. Felt like we could have swooped in and gotten a deal on a guy who can still play.

the league has a lot bigger problems than the ASG (which no one watches to begin with)

but the best way to make it watchable again? have it actually resemble a real NBA game instead of a pickup game where no one's putting in any effort

he says he wouldn't go more than one 1st for murray, but i think i would, particularly if i'm not giving up any valuable pieces (e.g., reaves, knecht) in addition to dlo.

dlo/vincent/jhs/2 1sts (maybe one lotto protected or one is a swap?) works financially but with one significant complication: NO is currently over the luxury tax, and if they blow it up, i'm pretty certain they'll want to get under. thus a third team is required (as we can't take back more in salary). also, NO would have to cut someone, which isn't ideal. i suppose they could send back a minimum guy.

that deal can work without jhs; i just thought NO might want to take a look at a young player.

anyway, rob's not wrong--the apron restrictions (for us and many teams), luxury tax (for some teams), and just roster fullness creates issues for trades...

Ham is right though, the standards are much higher with the Lakers, that's why we have 17 championships.

The Lakers won 6 playoffs series and missed the postseason 7 times in 11 seasons since Dr Buss passed away .

    These standards are long gone

We could go 0-82 and we still sell out every game . That’s high standards .

ham is right in that anywhere else, he'd still be HC. but that doesn't excuse the fact that he was a god awful HC during his time here. that 23 team got to the WCF in spite of him, not because of him. how many wins did he cost the lakers with his b*******, brain dead lineups? things like playing prince and reddish 35 minutes a game while barely giving rui any time or refusing to go back to the same lineup that got them to the WCF for god knows what reason

if he was truly a good coach, he would've landed a HC gig after the lakers fired him. he interviewed for multiple HC positions prior to landing the lakers job and didn't land any of them. he's a fine assistant, but a good HC he is not

Murray for all 3 PG and 2 FRP? No

Lavine for 3 rotation players and a FRP? NO

If we really want to keep Rui and Max. Trade Tinkerbell and Hayes for Vucevic.

Sit tight and see what happens with Vanderbilt and Wood next month. Finney-Smith only makes 14M, we could flip those two for him by the trade deadline.

Then why does this team suck now? It's the same players. JJ is ultra prepared, the players have all bought in.Rui is getting all the minutes and Prince isn't here, what's the problem now? If the players got to the WCF all on their own, we shouldn't be 10th in the West right now. That doesn't make any sense.

I thought Ham was fine in 2023. Not a big value add, but not an active detriment to the team. Going small in Game 1 against the Nuggets in 2023 was dumb, but he made the right decision to reduce Vando's minutes in favor of Rui and have Dennis take over POA duties in the earlier rounds. He should also get some credit for integrating a bunch of new players at the deadline. I don't really hold anything pre-trades against him because that roster was awful.

But he was bad in 2024. Not the absolute worst coach in the world (what Monty Williams did in Detroit last year was a felony), but an active detriment to the team. He wasn't the only problem, but he was causing problems and didn't/couldn't fix other problems that he didn't cause. When you lose the locker room as completely as he did last year, you just can't come back from that.

When did he lose the locker room? When the team went on a winning streak? I mean we finished pretty strong. It's just ironic, that all the whining, complaining and news articles ,came out towards the end when the team was actually playing pretty well. Coincidentally right after Lebron rediscovered his jumper, after it going MIA for about a month.

Has Redick lost the locker room already? These guys have rolled over, and flat out quit, multiple times this season. The guys are playing now, that everyone wanted to play. "Bring back that magic WCF starting 5 !!" Hell..they've been starting all season. It should be noted, that JJ realized real quick that Tinkerbell needed to sit his a** down. Ham took a lot of BS off of that dude, and ironically Tinkerbell, played better for Ham than JJ IMO.

I think we put too much blame on the head coach around here. The roster and the guy picking the roster, and hiring the coaches, needs a lot more scrutiny IMO. I don't think JJ is the problem right now either.

This is idiotic. These players don’t need to be playing more games, they need to be playing less. 2 teams just finished playing an extra game that doesn’t even count in the standings and now they’re adding more meaningless games.

It's not really a game. It's a quarter of play masquerading as a "game"
