oh boy...I would def take a swing on Zion...I mean it worked out prettyyyyy well for us last time when we traded for another Pelican...lol

I would imagine that trading for him would mean unloading every pick we have and probably multiple pick swaps AGAIN.

I'd imagine it would be some combination of DLO, Rui, 3 firsts (do we have this many to trade?), and 3 pick swaps to pry Zion away from the Pels....

I'd also be good with DLO, Gabe, Vando , 3 firsts and 3 pick swaps...

I think Pels ask for Knecht though and we will give him up

It's a huuuuuuge gamble but man you get someone like Zion in LA...and I think he gets motivated esp playing with LeBron/AD.

    AD
    Zion
    LeBron
    Reaves

not sure whoe else we'll have...

Andy is also interested in Dejounte.

He also brings up Turner again. It's an interesting take, Pacers aren't working out, they might be open.
Would people here do Reaves for Turner? He's not a bad fit in Indiana and it's an intriguing proposition for us. He's a great fit with AD but it's always gutting to lose Reaves. Trying to be pragmatic about it

Well, the two of us are available, the coach is still relatively young and could suit up, and Pelinka is... tall?

building around AD post-lebron is not the route you want to go. and especially not if you don't have any future 1st rounders

going the OKC route by hoarding picks is the way to go

okc didn't succeed this time by pick hoarding, though--they succeeded by getting paul george fairly cheaply and then gambling on SGA's upside. they've hit on some picks but missed on others, and the reason they're a contender was because they traded for someone else's prospect.

that said, i agree that building around AD post-lebron is a tough proposition--which is why we have to be very careful about for whom we empty the cupboard. they need to be capable of being a #1 or of being part of a trade for a #1. i'm warming to paying more for cam johnson for that reason--he's already been part of a package for a superstar, and he's improved since then.

yeah, the value of picks tends to be overrated. For example at this point from what we've already seen from Knecht, I'd rather keep him than give away 1, even maybe 2 FRPs.

when you suck, previously unavailable players in trade talks should be made available for the right moves

I love Austin Reaves, but in reality, if you can get a better player, I suppose you have to consider it. But like others have said, the value on that contract is tremendous. He gave us a home town white boy discount, and you can't just willy nilly dismiss that.

Poole? Please! Please give us a Westbrick and Poole backcourt. That might just be enough to make Joker demand a trade. I know he likes Russ, but give it time.

Lavine is an interesting fit for them.

Lavine and Murray would be a problem.

I know they have to try something new. Don't dig the brain trust drafting each of those teams though...my God!

Here is where this will fail miserably. If Steph, KD, Bron are on a team that loses in the first round. For fans to give a s***, they need the popular players to make it through.

lol, what, did malone get to the front office with a list of guys we're trying to trade for to make sure that we can't? does this organization care about anything but beating us?

anyway, their issue is that due to their salary structure, any significant trade has mpj or gordon going out. any player on that list is a marginal upgrade at best on either of those guys, right?

would be awesome to pull a jrue on them and snag porter or gordon from the team that trades for them, lol.

i know the optics would be bad, but they should really make it so that if you win, you play fewer games. like, the first one is for all the marbles, then the losers get (have) to play each other for slightly less cash. you might see serious effort in the first game! could even just have two all star teams and one rising stars team, all stars play saturday and loser plays the rising stars sunday. shame as motivation!

anyway, really felt like luka punted the semifinal game against okc to get several days' rest, and there was definitely some sentiment around the league that not playing in the nba cup was the real prize.

They can keep tinkering with All Star Game formats all they want, the real problem is lesser interest in the current crop of stars.
