Seriously though, I'd be infuriated if I was Dirk. It's not even the Mavs fault.

But that is why you don't do this. Nothing is promised and it is a business at the end of the day.

Yeah, I think it only makes sense to take a paycut when a contending team is guaranteed with the necessary pieces already in place, ie Duncan and SAS.

Yeah, pretty much. You take a pay cut if you have your buddies behind the scenes already promising you they're gonna sign up, or you choose to go to a team for less. Not to exaggerate, but for an extreme example, Kobe could have taken the vet minimum and we still could have missed on every superstar FA and 2ns tier guy we went after. Then Kobe makes crap money to play for a horrible team. He was smart, they offered him a boatload of money, he took it, and he got paid big time while we sucked.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

This is a great example of when selflessness goes wrong

The only thing better than if Cuban took it to court and they forced DJ to go to Dallas would be if they allowed him to stay a clipper but made him ineligible to play. That'd never happen, but seeing the clipps on the hook for his contract while getting nothing from him would be poetic justice.

And I like the Scola move to Toronto. Not sure letting Lou come here was smart on their part, but they've made good additions. They've gotten tougher, more defensive minded, and a couple solid vets.

Miami is going to be nice this year. Stick it to the Cavs.

Cuban should volunteer to trade Dirk somewhere kind of like what Sarver did in Phoenix. He deserves to at least compete for a ring somewhere.

    Great pickup by Miami.

Also Ridnour was finally waived today. I'd take a look at him as this year's Ronnie Price.

LOL, is any team out there gonna keep Ridnour this offseason? Traded 4 times already, then waived by the Raptors. Ouch!

I'll take him as our 3rd string guard!

Wouldn't mind Ridnour either, I'd prefer Andre Miller but would take either as a veteran voice to go along with Kobe's.

Agree with all Ridnour supporters. If anything we should pick him up because he's good trade bait apparently lol.

Right now our roster is completely full.

    Hibbert/Black/Upshaw/Sacre
    Randle/Bass/Kelly/Nance
    Kobe/Swaggy/Brown
    Clarkson/Jabari
    Russell/Lou

I mean, I think Ridnour would be a solid 3rd stringer since right now all 3 of our pgs are actually combo guards. That Bass signing is looking awfully weird right now. We have 8 freaking bigs. Kelly, Sacre and Swaggy have to be on their way out. I just don't see anyway we start the season with all 15 of those dudes. Sacre or Kelly must be going out in the Hibbert deal. I mean, this can't be our roster, right? It is painfully out of balance.

It's simple enough to find somewhere to dump those guys. Heck some teams need to reach the cap FLOOR. I'd trade them for heavily protected 2nd rounders that likely never get here.

Considering how many of our guards went down to injury last year, our roster looks heavily imbalanced. Cut the fat up front and sign more guards!

As would I. I think Sacre and Kelly can be moved. Swaggy SHOULD be easy to move as a lot of teams seem to have no sf. I just want all three of them gone. I like Swaggy, but doing the math, with the Lou Williams signing, Swaggy might prevent us from signing 2 full max free agents next offseason. I did the math somewhere earlier. Black and Clarkson may be getting 5.5 million each next season (Arenas provision raise). With everyone else on the roster we would be VERY close to the amount it would take to sign two 30% max FA.

    Upshaw (1)/Black (5.5)
    Randle (3.3)/Nance (1.1)
    A. Brown (1)
    Clarkson (5.5)/Lou (7)
    Russell (5.5)

I'm not sure if those numbers are exact, but they are damn close and that puts us at 30 million. Two cap holds puts us at 31 meaning we will have roughly 56-57 million in space.a 30% max FA is going to be around 26, so 2 is 52. If Swaggy's 5.4 million is still on the roster, we may be short.

Eh I'm not too worried about Swaggs. Right now we kind of need the depth there anyway. I'd rather just dump Sacre and Kelly if we can (although I like both of them) and then move forward with this season. Just waiting for Bird and Mitch to finish this thing off.
