maybe more appropriate question is does he have a coach who insists on switching all game and thus makes a smart but slow big unplayable? because brook lopez is slow as molasses, and his teams are consistently good on defense--particularly in the latter half of his career.

zubac can't switch on anyone and is a fixture in what is consistently a very good defense.

there's more than one way to play defense, and some teams do it with plodding bigs to great effect. having AD at the 4 should really help there, too. just need a little more speed on the perimeter...

anyway, if jj thinks you have to play small and switch and all that, we should look hard at robert williams, who has no real future in portland. i'd actually prefer a bulky big and a defense that doesn't rely so much on switching. in crunch time, AD will play center anyway.

We totally need more speed on the perimeter- that’s why I said earlier that it will take at least three trades to turn this team into a decent defensive one.

Dlo/JHS/Gabe/two 2nds for JV/Brogdan actually works, but I feel Dlo would help them too much.

 

he's barely played the last few games. played 8 minutes tonight. clearly limiting his playing time in anticipation of a trade

stein reporting that the asking price for grant is down to a 1st and a prospect and that NO is listening on anyone but missi/brown/murphy.

NO probably won't give up murray for the price i'd want to pay, but we should offer again. dlo/gabe/two protected 1sts is probably just under what they'd want after moving daniels and two firsts to get him. btw...if there's a team where dlo could work as a starting pg, it's one with four athletes (zion, murphy, jones, missi) next to him and a bulldog like alvarado behind him.

Dejounte unlocks Reaves potential going forward, he's a tough combo with a guard that can't defend. Dejounte is a very good post-Lebron carrier. Him, AD and Reaves is a nice trio to continue to compete and then we can start to build in the margins.
