GS would be sending similar salary back vs tacking on more in the offseason with Klay of course, so it's a different scenario. And again, we won't do it, but it was just a sample scenario. I'm sure others would come up with dozens of better options that help us rebuild quickly.

Kuminga and Wiggins for Davis doesn't work and they are not going to trade Green
And again Davis is 31 it just crazy he's going to ask to get traded
Their fans, who has no f***ing idea how a salary cap works dream for a few years about Giannis, for Kuminga and Moody it's basically same with Davis

I say the same thing every time I comment. And the odds of even getting close to those high picks we got before are magnitudes smaller this time around over those 5 - who knows how many years of sucking again. People are crazy IMO to want that pre-maturely. Cut off our noses and gouge both eyes out to spite their entitled unrealistic expectating faces. We’ll get there or not get there organically. Why wish it now?

i don't get it, either. even if lebron retires or walks in the summer or whatever, i'm still probably not moving AD unless someone bowls me over with an offer. it could take years before we unearth a better player than 32 year old AD.

and yeah, whatever fills the void of lebron's contract probably won't be close to 41 year old lebron.

I think part of the impulse to blow it up is that there aren't a ton of fan favorites on this roster. DLo and Rui are talented but frustrating players. Vando is a lot of fun but has been hurt for like a year and a half. A portion of the fanbase has never accepted LeBron because he was a Kobe rival. AR is really the only guy that's universally beloved, Knecht is getting there.

I don't want to blow it up because if nothing else, I still enjoy watching LeBron play for my favorite team every night. He's the last man standing of the 2000s when I became obsessed with the NFL and NBA. I think its extremely unlikely he's traded during the season. The only one I could maybe see is Cleveland for Garland + whatever salary filler, and that's a huge move to make when you're in 1st place midway through a season.

It would be almost impossible to trade LeBron at his salary. If he wanted out he’d want to go to a contender, and at 48 mil that would gut a team of its depth, or take an all-star caliber player from them and then are they even a contender. Plus we have zero roster spots and any trade would take like 3-4 players coming back, so we’d have to waive guys yet still pay them, and I think that puts us over the 2nd apron line. The only sort of trade that would work probably would be sending him out for a guy like LaVine who makes 43 mil and a one other guy making 4-5 mil, I don’t think we can take back more money than we send out, but why would he want to go to Chicago, that’s worse than just staying here probably. Nah, the FO will ride this out, hopefully they’ll make some around the margins moves and just get us to being competitive at the very least so at least LeBron can ride it out not piling up losses like a lot of aging stars do to finish their careers. AD isn’t going anywhere either, but if we wanted to rebuild and he wants out at least he’s locked in to a contract for years so teams that wanted him would have to give us quite a bit.

3rd teams can eat extra players for seconds--i was going to try to find a list of who still has roster spots as a primer for trade season, but got busy with actual work stuff today.

but yeah, it's not easy, especially if the other team is also an apron team, which it almost has to be to want a 40-year old lebron. you better feel like you're right there, as sk indicated above. even then...you're giving something up...

Who started these rumors? Irwin? LOL. While I've grown to like Irwin, I wouldn't exactly put any stock into what he says, IMO.

LeBron will get his farewell tour next year just like Kobe did and what better way to do that than in a Lakers jersey.

This will happen. He isn't skipping teams at this age. Come on.

No, it wasn’t Irwin, I believe it was Windhorst bringing up that GS called about LeBron last year and then yesterday or the day before it came out that GS is looking to trade for a star still, so he was just putting it out there. Irwin actually wrote a piece on why it’s not going to happen, the only way it would is if LeBron asked out, obviously, as he’d have to wave his no-trade clause, and even then there’s no saying the FO would acquiesce.

i'm pretty sure that if he asked out, we'd definitely move him wherever he wanted. as we discussed above, it's difficult not to get anything of value in such a move, as the destination is going to be a contender. also, our whole thing is being a place the biggest stars want to be, and holding the biggest one hostage at the end of his career would damage that. if AD asks out after lebron retires (i actually don't think he will), we'll move him where he wants, too.

anyway, i really hope we're ahead of gs in the standings near the deadline so rob can call curry's agent and ask him to demand a trade here.

i also love that the clipper fan who wrote kuzmo's article ascribes the warriors' inactivity at last year's deadline to a "lukewarm trade market" (which is true) when everyone says the lakers couldn't make a deal because rob's an idiot whom everyone hates.

It’s a nice benefit of being out of the NBA cup, he can rest.

yeah, i've posted about this a few times. we've got the books ready for luka. even if he signs the mega extension with dallas, right now we have space and almost all of our picks to give if he asked out of dallas.

trae young and AD plus knecht, reaves, and whatever we can do around it isn't bad either.

Looks like he went to his Miami's annual retreat

    ESPN story with
    @mcten
: Lakers star LeBron James is unlikely to play Friday versus Timberwolves. It would give James, who missed a Dec. 8 contest with foot soreness, eight days in between games if he returns Sunday against Memphis.

interesting they called it personal reasons instead of injury management or something.
