why wouldn't we move on from bron and or ad? they'd just keep this team barely a float and those 2 couod actually get us assets for the future, everyone else is either neutral or negative value
Lebron is about to retire anyway. AD is still All NBA caliber..build around him. When we were in the lottery every year, nobody wanted to come to LA.
Too late, already wasted multiple seasons throwing 50-60 mill on Lebron who's dead tired in the playoffs even when they make it there. Mr. Billionaire should have taken much less and let the team get some talent. Wasted years of A.D's career fan boying Lebron and his ego.
Meh..AD was injured more than anything. He's very far from declining as a player. This is still his prime right now. If we weren't cheap, and had kept some of the contracts we had, after the Westbrook trade, we would be in a better position to make trades too. You can't blame everything on James. You have to be willing to spend money too. We want to be a title contender on a budget.
A lot needs to change from the effort side and like yesterday. Unless I see a significant change soon from a few of the guys, I'm ready to dump everyone name named Bron, AD, Austin, DK, and Bronny (for obvious reasons).
bingo. phx has two more rotation players because they kept their beasleys and bambas for salary ballast instead of letting them walk. we're equally hemmed in by the second apron with a payroll that's 30 million dollars lower. that's the advantage to the deep-pocketed owner. rob takes all the heat (which is why he's not getting fired, folks, sorry), but we don't spend the way the competition does. the only other route to contention is having young stars locked into sub-super maxes like okc does (their gravy train runs out in two years or less, so they better win now, btw...). instead, we have a very old star making supermax money (lebron makes 30% more than SGA this year) and even less to build around him and AD due to us hamstringing ourselves a couple years ago.
haven't we all been for months? nobody wants them unless we add all our unprotected picks. and you know every single team is going to ask for knecht in every trade discussion this year, too.
I have been in favor of keeping Rui, but that's changing. And initially thought there was a path forward with 6th man DLO because he's more valuable to us than to anyone else. Nope. Pack it up. They can ask all they want and it'll probably get them the protections removed from the first we end up moving, that'll be the best negotiation compromise. This year DLO and JHS have February value as expirings. We can't wait till then to start trading though. Something has to be done next month. Buha doesn't think we do anything until the calender turns to 2025 and that scares me. Multiple moves are needed. Make your move for Valanciunas on the 15th. Then make your wing play in January. Then whatever else, if anything, on deadline day. Team needs to be shaken like a magic 8 ball.
yeah, fair enough on dlo. i was on that train before the season started, but his play has been so bad that he no longer has much value to us. i'm afraid buha is right about the timing, and i agree that step one is moving for valanciunas at like 12:01 on 12/15. can't give up any 1sts in that move, though. then we have to hope that a) jj has a plan to integrate a very different piece midseason and b) we can squeeze enough out of the roster so that the expirings we have will be useful in february. not super optimistic. i will say that i fully expected this stretch we're in now to be very rough (said so a couple weeks ago on here, i think). we're likely losing at SA, definitely at okc, and then it's on the road at utah (can we finally win a game?) and then minny and miami (yikes). then at atlanta and home vs. portland. that's our last game prior to 12/15 (and maybe we get a break during the IST this year?). at best, i think we're 13-11 and looking to deal during that week off. only bright side is that a lot of the teams we're competing with are having their own struggles, so even with the losing streak likely extending, we're not going to be way off the pace like we have the past couple years.
The current group of players has shown its ceiling and it’s just past time to move on. We have enough picks and expiring contracts to be strategic here and we definitely need to be active on the trade market once December 15th hits.
If Dlo and AD miss another point blank floater in the paint, I'm going to turn into the Joker. So many good shots created, so many misses that lead to Suns points. AD's turned into freakin Dlo since he missed those FT's against Orlando. get it out of your head man
How Brooklyn who plays without any bigs,Bogdanovic and Cam Thomas basically only Dennis and Ben Simmons ,destroyed Phoenix
turnovers and offensive rebounds ruined our best defensive game of the season. okc's halfcourt efficiency had to be terrible in this one, and we still lost because of the possession game.
This stretch was tough. Would have liked to banked the Orlando win because of that; either way, stay in the top 6-7 and make some tweaks in January.
What happened to DLO and do we know if Quincy is available yet from his own ankle injury/on the travel squad to UT?
