Ah yes. The CL days. If I remember correctly Sky was banging the door down for an Odom for Miller/Lowry trade all off season one year.

re: miller, i think his playing style was a little different, as he was a better ballhandler and passer by this age and sort of functioned as a point forward. i don't know if he was as good a shooter on the move at this point, though, and he wasn't as explosive a finisher, iirc.

i still think of glen rice a lot when i see him play; thought so in college, too. it's not as an obvious a comparison because reasons.

Glen Rice is the comp I thought of during preseason, I mentioned it in game day and in this thread earlier. They move similarly, same size, similar stroke, similar athleticism, both like to move without the ball, both can slash and finish, both have defensive issues.

I remember the game where Glen Rice scored 56, and it reminded me of what happened yesterday.

paschall was 6'8" 250, much slower, more of a post, not even in the same league as a shooter. but ok.

When you can't think of a more realistic comp than Klay Thompson/Reggie Miller/Ray Allen, you know you have a good player on your hands. Worse scenario Zach LeVine comp.

There are just so few successful white men in America, the chosen few tend to stick together and look out for each other.

lavine is a much better athlete. very different players, imo.

main thing right now is finding ways to not be exploited on defense, because i think he's figured out the offense part after only a few games. this is what made young klay special--he didn't have to be hidden defensively. just need to get knecht to reaves levels on that end.

Calling it now: Dalton Knecht is the best "ooter" in modern Lakers history (post 1980). He will obliterate the Lakers record for career 3pt shots as long as he stays healthy.

Apparently he was a popular watch in the locker room last year. Bron and AD have both mentioned the team having his games on in the locker room last year. Assuming that's how he got on his radar, scout Bron showed AR the light.

the only similarity between Mike MIller and Dalton is that they are white and around the same height. Miller was more like Reaves in the way he played.

I don't like the Glen Rice comparisons because I don't remember Rice trying to dunk on people's heads in traffic. Couldn't even find any clips of him highlighting like any dunks of his. Meanwhile Knecht tries to posterize dudes every time he gets an open lane.

I'm sticking with the Allan Houston comp but it's bonkers but Knecht may have a better career as he's a better shooter than Houston who was a great shooter. Both of them very similar in terms of height, body type, explosion, jumper.

We deserve this man...after we completely botched the 17th pick the year prior...the Lakers KNOCKED This pick out of the park. But to LeBron's point...the Lakers got lucky that he FELL to them the way he did.

I think Knecht could allow us to have Rui/DLO off the bench moving forward, and when Vando returns, Reddish can go back to the bench. Then our starters will be:

    AD
    Bron
    Vando
    Knecht
    Reaves

    bench:
    Hayes
    Rui
    Reddish
    Max
    DLO

Hopefully, we can package Wood and Vincent along with one pick and get another rotation player to replace either Max or Reddish in our bench unit.

I am having doubts about Vando ever getting healthy. Sad, but we need to find a defensive stopper and trade a few of our guys for him. But if Vando came back ready to defend, that would be an awesome starting lineup.
