Hyperbole … pot meet kettle. FO has thrown in the towel. Jeanie only care’s about selling tickets. Pelinka’s hiding, used car salesman …. it’s grown tiresome. And the roster would be a LOT better with Vanderbilt and Wood. No one expected them to be out again and they would make us better and deeper and give us more trade options earlier in the year if had been healthy.
It is not the GM's job to "make moves", it is to make the right moves when they are available. Irvin is always missing this point and ALL his arguments about Pelinka are based on the assumption that some good moves were available and he for some reason decided not to make them or didn't put in the work to work out some good moves. Both assumptions are pretty ridiculous IMHO, and they are presented as facts, a sort of starting point for discussing our FO. That's not reporting, that's not even analysis, it's pure speculation with one goal only - to present Rob in a bad light. Pelinka made some bad and even some terrible decisions. Waiting for the right move to be available with the very limited assets we have at our dispoisal now is not one of them.
But see, me saying those things is just an opinion. You don’t have to agree with it, you don’t have to let it bother you that I have it, but you clearly have as it’s grown tiresome. Apologies for sharing my genuine opinions on a forum for venting such things, I guess. The hyperbole I was referring to was things I never said or comments I possibly made being exaggerated to sound absurd. There’s a difference. I’m not going to argue when arguments aren’t being had in good faith and are just being boiled down to “you sound silly” because you don’t agree with my opinion. That’s not what I come here for. I don’t like Rob Pelinka as our GM, I don’t think he’s very good at his job, I think there are far more qualified people who would take the job, and we shouldn’t settle for mediocrity as the greatest franchise in NBA history. That’s just my opinion, you don’t have to agree with it, but damn I didn’t realize I had grown tiresome, I’m sorry, I don’t blindly praise the team, it needs a decent amount of work and my opinion on that isn’t going to change. I’m thrilled we’ve piled up these wins now, because it’s going to get rocky when we face some actual teams with this roster, that’s just reality to me. Also, as far as Vando and Wood go, yeah, I did expect at least one of them to be out, go check my hot takes thread prediction, Vando is a walking injury, I said I’m not sure he is ever really able to see the court this year much if at all. I suppose that will be painted as negative as well, but again, I just see patterns and comment on them, sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong, no big deal.
I suppose I’ve just gotten okd. I find the constantly positive no matter what posts to be as annoying as the negative no matter what posts. Overall though, my motto is pretty much “I said what I said” and I don’t really worry about it. Sometimes I’m right. Sometimes I’m wrong. I will only apologize if I accidentally said something personally offensive to a poster about their real life which I don’t believe I’ve ever done on here. If I wasn’t tagged on a comment that it wasn’t to me and I probably won’t respond unless I really disagree or agree with the comment.
All that said, make a move Rob. We can compete this year. I don’t know that our guys are any more attractive than they’ve ever been as players but we’ve got expiring contracts and picks. Teams are coming to reality and guys will be available starting in December.
bingo. i'm having trouble deciding which poster here is constantly praising the team, too. that's a much bigger strawman than "anthony irwin has a weird boner for pelinka that makes his takes on the front office basically laughable at all times".
I feel like I'm that completely too positive presence always looking at the bright side of things for Lakersball. I'd imagine that could get old for some fans. But I gots to be me.
There simply wasn’t a good deal out there this summer unless LeBron was truthful about taking a $20 million pay cut for Valenciunas in free agency. I wanted Jerami Grant but not at the cost of two FRP’s given his salary. We’ll see what Rob can do in December or at the deadline. His moves with Westbrook/Beverly got us to the WCF.
We have a shot to make a deep run this season IMO. The right move can land us in the Finals.. I'd prefer to go big , but we'll see.
This team can seriously content with a real backup big and defensive minded guard who isn’t a liability on offense like Gabe. It would be a waste of a season if Rob can’t upgrade at the deadline.
not much good can happen before 12/15, imo. and even then, teams like to see what's happening before making moves. i expect we'll be active. i'd like us to win a few more games between now and then so that we can bargain from a position of strength. the last two games haven't been confidence builders in that regard, but we had been doing well enough prior to that.
