Washington Post has a feature on 3-point shooting in the NBA today: how much is too much? Yea, I get it. But please: no meddling from the commish like baseball fell prey to. Just defend the 3 or not. Let the game evolve on its own. I agree with the sentiment that too much 3-point shooting has harmed the aesthetic of the game for some fans. I think abeer has been vocal about this here, and probably a few others. I get it. I tend to agree. But what are ya gonna do about it? I say: let it evolve.

    Here's the WA Po article.

It just seems like a lot of talent in the league nowadays. Skill level TBH is bonkers right now and that is one reason you can run these 5 out lineups which spam 3 pointers. You go back and watch those NYK/Rockets Finals and they ran lineups where I don't think that anyone could hit a 3 consistently say like even a Rui on the Lakers

The NBA won't change it until FIBA teams start beating us on a regular basis using international rules.

evolve into what, though? my main argument is that the corner three is too short. widen that back out and call moving screens and the block/charge as they were intended to be called, and i think you'll see post/midrange game return to value.

though, tbh--the best scorers are still the midrange guys because the best defenses still take out the threes and dunks.

but facts are facts: as pioneer said, simply jacking threes is winning as a strategy. the evolution is more three-jacking, and it's not fun to watch at all.

fiba allows much more physicality, ironically. they play like the 90s nba over there. it's why a lot of the recent imports are the exact opposite of "soft euros". try to rough up doncic or jokic, lol.

and still came back from a 20+ point deficit. Boston won, but not by much and it took a fairly bad shooting game from the Cavs.

Yep: Cavs were down at least 18 at one point, cut it to 4. Garland (3 for 21) had a very off night and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and the Cavs streak perished against the damned Bags.

i like aspects of it, but i see why the league wanted to get away from it. and for the most part, the modern game has more ball and player movement than the 90s had, which is more fun to watch. i just don't like that so much of it is designed to get long range shots. and yes, i know math is why.

i'm glad the league has mostly moved away from protecting offensive players at all costs. the harden era was brutal in this regard.

90 basketball sucked IMO. Watch a replay of those b2b Houston title teams. That was some god awful s*** outside of Hakeem dream shaking people.

80s was awesome and since the Lebron/Steph era it's been awesome as well. I do think the corner 3 advantage needs to be taken away to bring back some parity to the post game but the level of skill in 80s due to a much smaller league and now is just at another level

    Don’t get cocky :D

Still think 20-10 was a high bar without having Vando and Wood available.

    3 way deal:
    Lakers: Bridges, Clarkson, Kolak, Kopenhoop

Knicks: Kessler, Vanderbilt, Vincent, 2031 Lakers 1st

Utah: Russell, JHS, Wood, 2029 Lakers 1st (unprotected), Lakers 2027 1st protection removal, 2025 Lakers 2nd

    • Point of Attack defender who could also shoot (usually) in Bridges
    • Clarkson replaces Dlo as 6th man scoring punch
    • Kolak less expensive back up PG, replaces Gabe
    • Kopenhoop center depth
