^^^ .... for LeBron too. Those old man not in mid season form yet spinning power drives to the rim through traffic are frightening to watch.

I wonder if the Pelicans are still using the Saints training staff as their medical team.

    Starting five for Toronto
    PG D. Mitchell
    SG Gradey D ick
    SF RJ Barrett
    PF J. Mogbo
    C Jakob Poeltl
I am afraid that Gradey D ick will score 40+ and RJ Barret will get to his career high
    LOL
Filter already blocked his last name

Is Toronto tanking? Would they trade Mitchell to the Lakers for JHS, Wood, 2025 Clippers 2nd, and 2028 Lakers 2nd? Mitchell defends well, handles the ball adequately, and seems to be developing as a shooter. Could be somebody who fits next to Reaves. Kind of a better offensive version of Gabe if you will.

    Trade idea:

Lakers get: Grant, Simons, Reath, and Banton

    Blazers get: Russell, Hachimura, Vanderbilt, Vincent, Hood-Schifino, 2025 Clippers 2nd, 2028 Lakers 2nd, 2029 1st (Top 10 protected)

    Why for Lakers?

    • Grant is 3 and D. Shooting and defensive upgrade over Rui. Probably more consistent than Rui.
    • Simons might be as bad as Dlo on defense, so it doesn't solve that problem, but adding Grant into the starting unit would help mitigate that. That said, Simons is arguably a better shooter than Dlo in terms of volume and percentage throughout his career until this year (small sample size). Simons can't handle and pass like Dlo, but we don't need that as much with Reaves as the point guard. We want to get rid of Dlo anyway, so this replaces him with a different player that we could hope is an improvement. He's also a couple of years younger, so there's still some upside there.
    • Reath and Banton are cap fillers, but probably more helpful than Gabe and JHS.
    • Vando and Gabe haven't been very helpful this season, so no loss there. Grant is not the defender that Vando is, but he is still a plus defender, and he could at least shoot.
    • Get rid of dead weight in Gabe and JHS. Vando is in jeopardy of being viewed as dead weight by Laker fans unfortunately do to health issues.
    • Laker open up roster spot
    • Several players from both sides get a fresh start with this deal. Portland fans want a youth movement and souring on Simons.
    New Roster:

    PG: Reaves/Olivari/Banton/Bronny
    SG: Simons/Christie/Lewis
    SF: Grant/Knecht/Reddish
    PF: James/Wood/Hayes/Triore
    C: Davis/Koloko/Reath

yeah, i'm out on that. grant's a marginal upgrade at best, imo, and he's older and more expensive. simons is a downgrade from dlo and is also more expensive.

i also don't see it for portland, as they're eating gabe and vando's contracts for basically no reason.

both teams can do better on the trade market.

Nets and Raptors are my two targets. Neither are competing. Neither are in our conference. Both have had interest in our players previously. Both have multiple assets that can address needs of ours.

Next is Wizards. Also out of conference and not a serious team.

Last is Jazz just cause DA is being an unreasonable a**.

Nets: Sharpe, Cams, DFS, wouldn't mind DS back but i don't see that path.
Tor: Brown, Poet, Olynyk, and they have a zillion young 6-5 to 6-9 G/Fs you find one like as a throw in and develop him.
Wiz: Valanciunas, maybe Bey if he gets healthy
    Jazz: Kessler

I think we need to try to find at least one player this way. I also like Mitchell from Toronto and NAW from Minnesota. We need another two-way guard type to put with Reaves.

NAW is why we shouldn't give up on max, imo. he looked as bad or worse at the same stage.

nets are who i'm watching. we've worked with them in the past, they have guys we could use, and they don't want to win.

Good to know, regarding Max. Sharpe would give them that big bulky center, if that is what they are looking for. Probaly more reasonable to get him, compared to Kessler, who might be over kill. I'm not crazy about getting Dennis back, but he does check mark the box as a defender. replacing Dlo with Dennis sevearly weakens out three-point shooting though. I'm sure you are referring to Cam Johnson, since they probably want to keep the other Cam. Johnson is a fantastic shooter. I guess he would be an upgrade over Rui in terms of shooting and consistency.

Flipping Gabe for Schroeder and then Dlo for Bruce Brown would help the Laker solidify the defensive issues, actually increase depth, and allow more lineup combos
Works contract wise but hard to imagine the Lakers giving up 1st rounder for these guys and I don't know what TO or the Nets would want from the Lakers to make a move.

Same issue for this team: legit championship caliber top 3, Rui is solid playoff rotation player, got one good prospect in Knect, a good regular season player in Dlo and drops like a rock after that. So basically you can only trust 4 players right now against good teams. When they had a 5th guy in Schroeder same core got to the WCF. You get a 6th guy you get a title team. They need more bodies and quality rather than a home run hit.

*The big caveat with all this is if Vando comes back healthy and can hit shots like he did last year then makes things a lot easier
