I am so glad we have AD instead of Embiid. Here's Embiid announcing he is planning to sit out games when he is not injured. Meanwhile AD is at least trying to play 82.

Oh .... I forgot about him announcing he was no longer going to play back to backs. Was thinking it was about the period out with this new injury. Go NBA Investigation.

Yes you're right ... I forgot about his proclamation he would be load managing this year. How'd that work out for Kawhi last year with no longer business as usual.

Kawhi and Embiid are actually legitimately injured. The irony is quite convenient.

That’s a lot of dough for a dude who can only play one side of the floor and who also gets dominated by AD.

Nearly posts a trip dub and is now going to likely miss 4-6 weeks going off what NBA twitter doctors are saying.

kawhi yes, but i don't think embiid is actually injured. sixers weren't putting him on the injury reports and then all of a sudden he's out for the entire preseason and first week of the season. doesn't help that embiid can't stay quiet and admitted that he's probably never going to play back to backs again either

it's interesting--what does legitimately injured mean? like, i believe that their knees are swollen or whatever, but was/is there an injury per se? the technical definition of the term varies. they are often incapacitated by either their own or doctors' description. again, i'm pretty sure that kawhi's move out of SA was about their team doctors being skeptical about his claims of injury (and/or just concerned that it would always be that way), and kawhi's anger at them for basically not taking him at his word.

i get why the players' association would want to protect these guys, but everyone also needs to understand that the nba product is diminished when the top players just sort of randomly opt out for preventative maintenance. the league has tried (i do think they can try harder) to minimize back to backs, and at some point the burden needs to fall to the teams or the individual players in the case of these chronically injured guys.

but maybe it's as simple as the teams are already punished by paying embiid 60 million per to play fewer than 60 games and basically never finish a season healthy. but if you're the sixers (like us with AD), what choice do you have here? just let a top nba player walk when you don't have the means (nor really the method, tbh) to replace him any time soon? the clippers will be an interesting case to watch over time because they split the difference on their oft-injured stars. they were banking on the loss of george not mattering that much, and they appear correct in the early going. will that last? will other teams have the fortitude to make similar choices? if AD misses half his games during this contract, would we play hardball with him?

We have 3 games in 4 days coming up, I wonder if Lebron will be "load managed"?

I'm not counting with any load management. We host Sac in the end of the b2b, I'm confident we end the losing streak against them. We probably split the games against Phoenix, but we can win both, it's a good matchup for us

The Pels are absolutely snake bitten when it comes to injuries year after year. It’s pretty incredible.

Yeah, I think Redick is looking to establish good habits early. We could very well lose that SAC game because they’re a difficult matchup for us especially on a back-to-back, but I don’t think it will be because anyone sits out.

This season might be an interesting case study in just how much coaching, planning for opponents, and schemes contribute to your record.

I’m hoping JJ can figure out some coverages to change that Sac has our number narrative.

I hope so too, I hate losing to SAC every time knowing they’re completely fraudulent when it comes to playoff basketball. But Fox/Monk have just been too quick and athletic for our guards and Sabonis is one of the few cents that AD can’t bully or out-quick. I do think that JJ’s emphasis on running organized offense and crashing the offensive boards can help us control pace in this matchup.
