Clearly the Lakers office is well versed in the quota rules, so Castleton had to go. Culinarily Italian Stallion just happens to be the beneficiary of circumstance.

min all seriousness, he looks like he’s earned a chance. Just wish we were as good at finding bigs as we are small guys. But maybe the plan is to flip one of our guard assets for a big at some point.

Are you not entertained with “Kokomo” in the meantime who looks to be a big upgrade on rim protecting and overall D and 10 pounds heavier than Hayes at least? He does have one season pro experience and posted highlights clip with the Raptors.

Just f***ing insane contracts for a better than average players.
    For example
Jalen Suggs has played 3 seasons for the Magic. He has averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 176 regular-season games.

Trey Murphy III has played 3 seasons for the Pelicans. He has averaged 11.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 198 regular-season games.
    I completely understand Shaq

To be fair about Jalen Suggs’ new contract extension, his offensive numbers don’t stand out but he plays Alex Caruso level defense.

Having said that though, is that still worth $30 million/season? I’m not sure about that.

Suggs is a hell of a defender, still like... 23? And can hit the 3. They're thinking some contracts are north of 100m a year soon. I don't think it's that ridiculous for a team on the rise that plays together.

cap smoothing means that we won't see crazy immediate jumps. next year the projections are close to 150, i think. so these 30-35 per contracts are 1/5 of the cap. one max and two of them are over 2/3 of the cap. so if you're handing out 30 per--it better be a guy who you think can at least pull the caboose of a big three.

has jalen johnson shown that? not sure. jalen green? maybe. jalen suggs? if he can stay on the floor...maybe. sengun? i think so, actually.

and i love trey murphy, but i feel about him like i did about mikal bridges in phx. and i looked wrong for about six months on that, but i think i was right all along. these are elite role players. you want them at 20 per, not 30+.

btw, we really need to time lebron's retirement correctly. because reaves is a HUGE bargain right now, and that won't last. we need to find a way to capitalize on that very brief window where we might get a max slot again.

As of right now, Reaves is the future point guard for this team. Right now he has the luxury of sharing ball handling duties with Dlo, but Dlo could be gone as some as this season. So when that happens and we dont get anotger poiblnt guard in return, can Reaves handle point guard by himself? If Lakers feel that's a no, then they still might try to make a trade, but it has to be a clear upgrade. I don't know if Garland or Smart move the needle enough. Tre Young would look a lot better with Knecht/Max. Who else might be a sleeper?

Another way to look at this Lebron is old as f*** but AR's contract should be treated like a rookie deal in the NFL. That contract is ridiculously good for a guy who is a legit 3# guy on a title contender. In other words I really hope Miami sucks and Butler becomes becomes available lol.

Knecht likely will replace Reaves as #3 soon.

Actually, this could be a great trio of guards. DLO, AR and Knecht. We have often had 3 very effective guards to rotate, Scott, Magic and Cooper come to mind. When our defense is killing us, then we got Vando and Vincent. Could be solid
