New pod appearance No clue who she is. But it's a quick 18 minute ep if you want to give it a listen/watch. Fellow falcons fan, even more reason to like the kid.
Rob's rebounds from the mistake of listening to you to sign your boy JHS , without giving up 1 steenking pick ..... has made up for it. Dalton the-Stud-lottery-talent Knecht taken same spot this year at 17 as BPA. Christian the-rim-protecting-menace Koloko signed to a 2-Way to become roster spot. And now undrafted Quincy Olivari the speedy defensive POA defending bigger than Dennis Schroder by 2 inches and 30 lbs and 8 years younger .... three ball shooting savant combo guard signed to a 2-Way to become roster spot. Moves B, C and D to save our future picks and help this team this year while still having trades to pursue later in the season.
I feel he can replace Gabe next year at a lesser salary… with a better looking shot and tireless full court pressing
This move is a no brainer. Even if he never ends up playing on the big squad he’s still shown already that he can produce in an NBA game against real NBA players, something JHS has rarely shown and something Castleton has never shown. He was one of the only players of the 2-way/G-League guys who didn’t look scared, or out of his depth, just went out and played.
Great stuff!!! Kudos to management for acting quick and making the right call without hesitation. Now, this kid is ahead of JHS in the pecking order for me. I think JHS, Lewis and Hayes won't spend Christmas with us. I think the kid may be good enough to be part of the rotation at some point during the year. Looking forward to see how this story evolves
^^^ That autograph story above and every interview with him …. what a great likeable kid. How can you not root for him. I read elsewhere today that JJ somewhere made the comment that every shooting contest amongst the guys that were in the facility working this summer Quincy won and Redick loves his positive energy.
Q’s the same age as Knecht, the reason he wasn’t considered or drafted at all..If Knecht hasn’t previously shown his all-NCAA abilities he would have not been drafted too in todays modern scouting
Quincy going to Lily's house to deliver his autograph was a sign of what kind of character he has Looking forward to big things from him I'm pulling for him to succeed Go Quincy!
one common factor in a lot of our best draft picks has been to take experienced guys. you have a lot of data/scouting on them, and they're ready to play sooner. i think i (or someone else) posted this piece about olivari a while back. i didn't take it too seriously at the time, as it was written by a xavier fan, and olivari hadn't stood out that much in summer league. but the points ring true--he was discounted for some reason. maybe he doesn't really look the part or something. but he consistently just gets the job done.
He received high praise prior to the draft by one of the (IMO) best basketball minds on the planet. And for good measure!
fwiw, olivari is almost the same exact size as jrue holiday when he was drafted (about an inch shorter, with one inch shorter standing reach, same weight, same wingspan).
That article you linked about what a disservice it was leaving Quincy off the not only 1st team all conference when he put up the year he had in the 2nd toughest conference in the nation …. but also the 2nd team of 5 players for just honorable mention …. is a great read. As great a young player as he is he’s just as great a human being. Here’s just the excerpt from the end. This guy’s an incredible get for the Lakers and no doubt will be a fan favorite “TOO”. We’ve got a bunch folks. Eric Dixon? Not even close. He snagged half a rebound more per game, but was outscored, outassisted, and outstolen by Olivari. He also wasn’t as efficient on offense. Neither was the aforementioned Jenkins. Or Trey Alexander (who wasn’t even top 500). Tyler Kolek, golden boy of the media? Not as efficient as Quincy Olivari on offense, even with his glittering assist numbers. Quincy was top 15 in efficiency despite being top 15 in usage and top 10 in shots percentage. He scored well and often. The conference high scoring game? Quincy Olivari. The conference high scoring half. Quincy Olivari followed by Quincy Olivari. The top scorer in the second best conference in the nation? Quincy Olivari. And it’s not as if he’s an unlikable guy who shouldn’t be recognized because he’s hard to deal with. Quincy has been a display at show and tell, eaten lunch at elementary schools, visited fans at home, signed and given away posters, met countless little kids that idolize him, used his social media to connect with fans, boosted his teammates with online clips from their youth, and in general endeared himself to everyone who has met. The man cried talking about how much his dad meant to him at a press conference and completely glossed over the reason he was answering questions was because he’d just scored 43 points in a game. Quincy Olivari is a first team all Big East player. Perhaps the other coaches were too scarred by what he did to vote for him. Maybe they wished he was playing for them. Maybe, surely in the case of Kolek, they just got caught up in the hype and didn’t actually bother to look at the numbers. Whatever the reason, the Big East messed up. Quincy, of course, didn’t care that much.
Mock away doomers but with these coming additions to the roster of Koloko and Olivari in the exact areas of great need we have …. before Vando and Wood come back AND any potential trade later …. it’s a whole new ballgame. Redick will use what’s available that’s getting the job done. I’m pumped. Then look the hell out when Vando and Wood get back.
I like him better than Gabe, JHS, and Bronny. Keep the guard rotation Reaves, DLO, Olivari, Max, and Knect lol. I'm kind of only half joking - if Reddick wants this team to be able hit 3's you might s well play guys who can actually you know shoot.
