What a shame...in a game where we gave up critical offensive rebounds which created extra possessions for Denver where they scored...Vando doesn't see the floor for even 5-10 mins? I hope and pray that the Lakers are smart and they do not bring Taurean Prince back...need to be Vando/Rui at the forward spots next year with no question about who is playing what minutes. Also, Vando is eligible to be traded this summer as his extension finally kicks in.
Vando is expendable. You can get more value out of a player like Haywood Highsmith who can actually hit the 3 and play defense just as well.
highsmith a) plays for the heat, so discount as necessary, and b) has worse advanced numbers across the board than vando. he's only been a net positive for one season of his career (this last one). they're not in the same class.
He doesn’t play for anyone at the moment he’s a UFA. I like Vando but he’s a one side of the ball player.Highsmith game is on the rise as a true 3-D player.
no, i mean he played for miami, who is becoming famous for getting a lot more out of guys than other teams do. highsmith is two years older than vando and has only shot well from three one year. with the exception of last year's injury-plagued small sample, vando has been substantially better on both ends than highsmith over the past three years.
Fair enough .He can easily become a liability though.Still believe Highsmith is a riser in productivity but we’ll see
highsmith is certainly a derrick jones jr late bloomer candidate. i just don't think he's in vando's class. and i'd really hate to sign another miami guy, tbh. just bad vibes now.
Soo.. Jared actually had two procedures, one on each foot, done this offseason. Interesting https://www.google.com/amp/story/s/...very-surgeries-foot-injury-heel-bursitis/amp/
Maybe they found something in the injured foot that puts him at risk so took care of the other one. Hopefully this will help decrease injury risk going forward for him. Sigh I've complained about his offensive limitations ad nauseam which makes him difficult to play in the playoffs but he looked so much more comfortable shooting the ball before he got hurt. He does not have to be a great shooter but just someone who will shoot it with confidence as he's good in a lot of other areas
So we’ve all heard Vando will probably miss preseason. I wonder if he’ll be ready to go at the start of the regular season or sometime soon after it.
thought i read they were different issues. the one was the ongoing injury, and the other a bone spur. i don't love it. i wonder if the knicks would consider him for robinson--two fragile guys who are valuable on the rare occasion they play. if your plan is to match up with boston, you might prefer a rangier forward to a big now that you have towns in the fold. we could throw wood in?
Rob said the surgery to the other foot was suggested by the doctor as "you're already going to have to rehab from a foot, so why not take care of the other and make sure you don't have problems in that one"
Not a whole lot of info but nice to see Vando. No real clues about when he'll be back in the mix. But we really need what he brings to the table to succeed. He's our only legit wing defender besides Max and Cam. I hope that he can come back soon. Rui can and should start since Vando isn't right yet, but I would love to see that reversed sometime in the season. Rui is better as a bench scorer I feel and Vando's D is necessary with Dlo and Reaves, Lebron and AD.
Thought it was the worst media day interview of anyone on the team. Didn't seem to be in the best spirits and nothing encouraging about the injury. If all he's been doing is lifting and isn't even testing his body in any sort of scrimmaging, the rust and ramp up is going to take awhile. It took him awhile to look right last time he came back and that was a significantly shorter down time. It wouldn't shock me if he didn't look right until sometime in late December.
i've been his biggest fan here, but i think it's best that we plan on him just not playing again this year (and maybe ever). seems like jj has sort of moved past it already, too. if he shows up later and can help when someone gets hurt, great. until then, act as if he's not here.
So incredibly disappointed that his body isn’t cooperating. Watching his defensive excellence made me so happy, the short stint we witnessed it. I really hope he can get back on the court by mid season.
he's clearly willing to put in the work, running on the beach in sand, etc. Loves doing the stuff that other people don't, makes opposing players' lives hard. We need the dirty work guys on this team to stay healthy. Hoping for a quick recovery, but history doesn't seem to be on our side yet.
