NO. Rob didn't build the title team, regardless of how many times, that you keep saying that. He added Danny Green, Dwight, and Kief on a buyout. Everyone else were already here. The AD trade was already kicked off by Magic. He deserves at the very least, the same amount of credit. Yes we got to the WCF, and then got swept too. If he had traded for Kyrie Irving, instead of Tinkerbell, we'd have another ring. IMO. I dont think his track record, is to be considered as stellar as you do. Still..as long as Lebron and AD are healthy, we have a shot. If they keep getting knocked off early in the playoffs, healthy, the finger should be pointed, at the guy putting the rest of the roster together. IMO
i'm asking for the guy with track record you're demanding. you're a goalpost mover, but rob's got a ring and a conference finals appearance in a 4 year span. who's beating it? irving s*** the bed in the finals last year, btw.
Yeah Magic “kicked off” unsuccessfully trying to steal AD from New Orleans mid season 2019, highly pissing off the owner and GM, then doing his quitting in the tunnel act prior to the end of the season and proceeding to go on his months long media road show extending through Rob’s draft and free agency, trashing the organization and calling Rob a backstabber …. while Rob had to then deal with the Pels to get the AD deal done and do his team building. Meanwhile while Snake’s uncle was seeing what he could get under the table from the Clippers, while West was calling the Lakers a s*** show, they were stringing the Lakers on causing as stated Rob to pivot from plan A free agents who wouldn’t wait to plans B and C, including Danny Green who did wait, Avery Bradley who was very good for the team until he skipped the Bubble, Cousins seemingly on way back to health, who had been great next to AD in NO and Dudley who played well enough when his number was called and contributed in other ways. Re-signed Rondo and kept the roster spot open which became Morris, and had the heart to heart with Dwight to replace Cousins in his hugely impactful plan C move …. all while he and the organization were being used as a piñata in the media.
No that's @KareemtheGreat33 I had to look stuff up while knowing all this credit Slick was giving Magic was a joke. Sure he had the big picture in the beginning about AD but then look what he did and continued to do while Rob was trying to actually get it done and create the roster for the next year's team.
not to mention the pesky detail that rob was the general manager of the los angeles lakers starting in 2017. but we get to just choose which things he did or didn't do from our armchairs so that our narrative can live on.
Magic endorsed a laughing hyena, so he's pretty much dead to me. May Rob live on, endure, and succeed at the highest levels!
mini wmc: why sit out full preseason games? why not just limit minutes? denver played all their starters today, just at low minutes. i think this is better than sitting out full games. yeah, nobody wants to get hurt in the preseason, but you also want to build chemistry/get reps.
Meh..we'd have two chips if Magic was still here IMO. We'd still have AD, the Heyena too. Who knows if he gets hurt or not? IDK.. If he did, Im pretty sure Magic would have flipped him, for someone else by now, with Lebron next on the list. I also don't think Magic was lying about Rob being a backstabber, Rob lies about as much as Trump, with a straight face to boot. Lol
The preseason is irrelevant for Lebron and AD. We are running back basically the same team since we made the trade, I don't think chemistry is a big problem.
