So sad Lakers couldn't bring Jrue home. Such a good fit with Lebron and AD. He cuts so well and sets great picks: Lebron would have had a field day
I remember floating that idea as soon as Portland said they were going to let him go. I was all in. Would've traded Dlo and Rui and a pick to do it in December when it was possible for us, but that was moot as they wanted to do something right away. I thought it was odd that most folks here were against the idea (said Jrue was too old, wanted a big contract afterwards, etc.). I said I didn't care, that he was a perfect fit. Check the receipts.
Canadian coach refused to double down low because Lessort and Yabusele are non NBA players . This is why France shot 42 FTs ( Canada has no rim protection too). France exploited the s*** out of CAN weakness
This Serbia version should be tougher Bogdon looks to be healthy and back in rhythm. US should still cruise but it will be interesting if they try to play Jokic the whole game.
US has to make jokic work. i realize everyone tries this, but if they're going to try to run him 40 minutes, we need to run him ragged.
If we make it past Serbia, France won't be a walk in the park in the final. They've got a genuine homecourt advantage and have benefitted from some questionable officiating. France seems committed to benching Gobert and playing Wemby at the 4, so this would be the perfect time to play some bully ball with Embiid. We also need Holiday, Ant and Tatum to really ratchet up the ball pressure because France's ballhandling is pretty bad.
it's weird because he actually looked pretty good, and he hit the three to break the game open for good, iirc. one thing he really needs to work on is finishing with his off hand other than dunks/layups. he makes himself smaller in the post by knowing he's going back to his right hand. yeah, they're getting a great whistle in the games i've seen. and yes, you have to attack their ballhandlers. they're not fast or super strong with the ball for the most part. so odd that anyone exposed to gobert long enough ends up benching him when they need big wins.
i know we should win anyway, but serbia is basically just body checking everyone on both ends without no whistle, and we're not allowed to touch them. jokic pulled the harden move on AD on his first possession and got the whistle. add in that serbia's white hot, and you've got the upset in the making. doesn't help that edwards and booker just don't play good team ball on either end.
