I really wish they weren’t playing, it doesn’t bode well for our season. But, I guess they figure it’s the last title of any kind they can win together.

Me too but I doubt LeBron and AD actually feel that way. But does not bode well for the season and good health like they had this year.

I forgot we had this thread and created “Paris Olympics” today with a great The Athletic article. Much sexier sounding though right?

    :Noddingyes:

    :LLLLLebronlaughing:

I vote we merge the few posts in it into this thread and change the title to better represent how BIG this world competition is with everywhere else nipping at USA’s heels again …. without a Dream Team Redux.

    :Magic Brows:

…. OR Paris Olympics …. (then all of your title) even better.

    :Mindblown:

it just is kind of a weird thing that Americans actually care about the Olympic basketball gold medal enough to send all these stars when the rest of the world doesn't care that much, yet the NBA guys in general don't care about the FIBA World Cup.

For example, soccer in the Olympics is played by Under-23 squads only with the exception of 3 players, and no one really gives a crap. Yet the soccer world cup is the most-watched tournament across the World.

Well the Olympics are a big thing and before the first Dream Team happened the US was still sending college kids against mature professional players other countries were and still are sending. And getting our a**es finally handed to us. It's there again at that point and college kids are at a disadvantage.

And if the World Cup is bigger for Soccer well yeah just a different importance and culture with that formal competition growing up for youths. Just different here I guess. Plus of course EVERYONE wants to go hang out in Paris.

i'll try to be optimistic and say that the olympics are a good way to stay in good shape over the summer? if the minutes stay manageable, it's maybe not too bad from a wear and tear standpoint?

i do think--and really know from personal experience--that taking it too easy in the offseason also creates substantial injury risk.

To be fair Austin was barely used to the 82 game grind. Still getting his NBA stamina up. AD and especially Bron know how to condition and pace themselves.

I don't think the extra wear and tear is great for them or for us as a team, but I definitely wouldn't compare it to Austin's struggles.

Doncic and Slovenia were eliminated from Olympics.Greece just destroyed them 96-68.
And Greece could still lose to Croatia .
