Capela is not available for trade. And even if he was, he wouldn't be in your closing lineup. So your brilliant idea is losing DLo that gives us 30+ minutes, 3rd in point scoring and BEST shooter for Capela that plays less minutes, doesn't close and leaves us thinner at PG. Mastermind

Yes, who's a 3 and smaller. Grant is a 4 and bigger. Great argument

    1. capela makes more than dlo. we can't make that trade because of the second apron.
    2. why does atlanta do this? they have scoring guards already, capela's already an expiring contract, and they own our 2025 pick.
    3. as pika said, now we have to go get a pg.

    next suggestion.

Assets, it gets us assets, trading our star while he has value. Trading him later or letting him walk when he gets tired of this s*** too will get us little to nothing. Again, I don’t like being a middle of the pack team, knowing going into each season you are not winning the title. It can kind of be fun if you have a team like in the 90’s with Van Exel and Jones and those dudes, but even that wears out fast and you go get Shaq pretty quick to go to the next level. The rebuild is coming, they’re only delaying it, the Russ trade ended this team’s run. Some teams do this quicker so they can stockpile first round picks to trade for their next star quicker, I don’t see why we can’t do this. “It’s not the Laker way” isn’t good enough anymore, times change.

i think you're discounting the possibility that the rebuild phase goes longer than you think...maybe into forever (as it was trending, pre-lebron).

i agree that the russ trade ended everything. that was just a catastrophe from which there is no recovery.

i still think our plan is to try to use the draft capital we have to get donovan mitchell or higher. honestly, trading for a superstar is probably easier than drafting one. i really think the timetable that the FO has ends after this year. if we can't make a big move by next summer, i think lebron could retire or walk somewhere else and AD would then be open to a trade. but we can't trade AD against his will while lebron is still here.

We have two PG and Reaves and Lebron. We don't need to replace Tinkerbell with a PG. Idk what Atlanta wants to do with Trae either, he wants out apparently. C'lo would tide them over for a second.

We can throw in Lewis and make the salaries match.

I thought Mitchell would rather play with Bam in Miami over here?

Sure we can, he doesn’t have a no trade clause I’m aware of. LeBron can whine all he wants agreed to the contract. Having 4 more first round picks to trade sure makes getting a Donavan Mitchell easier, but whatever I guess, we can keep trying with the 2 we have. I know it’s not going to happen, I’m just talking out loud, because now IMO it should happen. Teams do this all the time, it doesn’t work with your current stars so you blow it up and try with new stars soon as you can after that. We waited to long before like with Pau, let him age out and walk, got nothing, that’s what’s going to happen again because of The Laker Way.

lebron's a s*** pg, which is why he's always demanding we go get one. reaves also has not excelled in that role, imo, on either side of the ball. he can play the spot in the half court, but he can't handle the burden of handling against ball pressure for 30+ mpg.

how do we know trae wants out? because of a cryptic prayer emoji?

mitchell won't ask to come here if we don't have AD.

which teams do this all the time?

most teams draft a superstar (which takes many attempts and failures), hopes to surround them with enough talent, has a very brief contention window, then rinses and repeats--this is a decade-plus long cycle. our fanbase couldn't handle 5 years of crap ball.

okc is some massive success story that's basically just done this twice separated by 10 years. it's a different kind of misery. i guess they sell it to fans as hope during the down years, but make no mistake, those are down years. i was here during the kids era, and the fun and hope wore off fast.

I'm also watching the situation in Sacramento. Fox didn't sign an extension. He's with Klutch. I'm wondering if we're not monitoring his situation, prioritizing him, and planning on forcing his way here if Sac doesn't improve.

And your brilliant idea is to run Chokeolo back? Rob has been trying to give him away if you hadn't noticed. All that jazz is irrelevant if he disappeared in the playoffs. Do you really need to see it thrice, to get that message?

How do you know we can't close with Capela anyway? You are basing this of of what exactly? So..if we are facing a team with a legit big, what's you solution..f*** it..play AD at 5 anyway?

Morey teams do it all the time, he trades stars like they’re minimums. Not saying it’s the best policy, but it sure didn’t keep PG from going to Philly. I agree that those other scenarios are common of course, I guess I’m just not sold on AD attracting anyone here, I fear another injury plagued season after he just played 76 games and is coming off an Olympics, I would sell high.

WTF do we have Vincent and JHS for? Vincent started on a team that just recently went to the Finals. Lebron and Austin are just fine as half court facilitators, they are doing it more than Tinkerbell, at the end of games now.

We're not trading AD, IMO. LBJ probably plays 2 more years and he's gone.

There might be a scenario now where we try to salary dump to clear roster space and just make moves around the margin.

It wouldn't surprise me if we keep these picks going into the season and into next summer, IMO.

morey rode harden forever, made the guy a king, did literally everything harden wanted all the time. he left the job instead of trading harden.

embiid's still attracting people to philly despite never finishing a season upright.
