Slick - I was not saying we have to give a FRP for Klay. I think we may need to do so to dump DLO for a good player and cap flexibility to free up a little more for Klay.

Whats the better option, Derozan for MLE or Klay in a S&T?

Oh..I was assuming that it was for getting Klay, since you mentioned Derozan. It's "possible " that he goes for the MLE.

Depends. If we get Derozan we still need DLO for his 3 point shooting.

not a better man at all, i just see the reality of the situation and am not wasting time fighting it.

if masai ujiri or sam presti is our gm, they would be in the exact same situation and would do the exact same thing rob's doing.

the russ trade definitely damaged lebron's power, but it didn't eliminate it.

again, i was surprised by lebron offering to take a pay cut, but notice that it came with strings. there's a list of players acceptable to lebron for it to happen. if masai ujiri thought he uncovered some great talent and could get him, and he wasn't on lebron's list, he's not coming.

and lebron doing it publicly is another way to see he's still trying to use his levers.

it just is what it is.

you can blame rob for being on board with the klutch partnership, but then you have to be ok with us just not having lebron and possibly still being bad and never having won a title or gotten AD in trade.

    DeRozen, by a mile.
I want no part of trading for Klay.
Need to trade DLo for a real PG.

    in order of palatability:

klay for mle (not happening, as i've been saying)
klay in S&T wherein the salary dump move brings back a rotation player (e.g., kessler)
derozan for mle (though i do not like it)
klay in S&T that loses us assets and doesn't solve any other problems

With Derozan and Bron, and Reeves, not sure we need a real PG. That is 15-plus assists right there. Would need a shooting PG - like DLO. IMO. But a better defender would be nice.

He's still better than Dinwiddie at that salary.

That's odd spacing. And goes against the apparent JJ philosophy. If you just sign a coach for 4 years, at least start by giving him the players he wants to succeed in his model.
White is 10x the player Grant is. And it's not about Grant salary. It's about giving up picks that start counting when he's around 40y old.
I'm only giving 2 picks for a guy that puts us in top3 in the West OR is the next star after Bron. Grant is neither
You still need someone to defend PGs. If you put Vando, that's another non-shooter.

I scouted available FAs and these are the only ones MLE worth remaining:
    Klay
    DDR
    Tyus
    Melton

There's Caleb Martin but I think it's overpaying.
I like Melton. He could nice if we go the trade route.
Melton-Reaves-Klay-Bron-AD is an interesting closing lineup

Sort of gives me Russ vibes. LeGM and Assistant GM AD though WB would be a good fit. Now LeGM willing to take less for DDR?

I've liked Melton a lot for a few years now, I think he's still underrated. But he missed most of the second half of the season with back issues, and having had some back problems myself that stuff always makes me nervous. But if his medical report looks good I'd love to bring him in. Not an amazing shooter or an elite defender, but a steady two-way presence in the backcourt.

    Kyle Anderson may leave Minnesota
Kyle Anderson's contract has come to an end.
Here is another 3-D player candidate

The 30-year-old earned about 9 million for the 2023/24 season and, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, wants to maintain a similar salary level under the terms of the next agreement, which causes the club difficulties in connection with rising costs.
