Alright so now we need to see if we can get one of the following 3 players for CHEAP from BKN:

DFS
Cam Johnson
Dennis Schroder (!!!!)

We need to be WORKINGN the god damn phones and using Gabe Vincent / JHS / picks to get these types of players.

Cam Johnson would actually be very nice, ditto on DFS. Schroder would definitely ease the blow of losing DLO as well, and then we can probably just bring Dinwiddie back to be the backup.

i'll be in the minority that's not interested in basically any of the nets castoffs. i'm not even sure if i move gabe for any of them, lol.

i suppose cam johnson for rui/gabe/17 interests me, but DFS, or even my man DS...nah.

 

I'm not sure Johnson is a big upgrade over Rui. I wouldn't give up a pick and Vincent for him too. Especially with AD wanting to play more 4. I'd save those assets for something else.

 

that was my thought, but up until last year on a dysfunctional nets team, cam was a plus defender and a deadeye shooter. that's worth more than rui. but you're right that a 3/4 type is a bad fit on our roster. we need a dynamic 1, an athletic two-way wing, or a center who can play with lebron/AD.

 

I wonder where Randle is headed.

 

OKC with Hartenstein and AC could be a problem.

my guess was detroit (cap space, nobody wants to play there, they need talent, randle wants to be the big dog).

i've said before i think he can play next to lebron and AD, but randle didn't think so years ago, so who knows. he's another guy i'd give up gabe/rui/17 for.

 

So I genuinely thought we could/should be able to get Bridges with DLo + our tradeable picks. I was very wrong. Fascinated to see what the Knicks do from here. I hope they keep Randle, re-sign OG and cut payroll around the fringes. If they stay healthy I think they could go toe to toe with the C Bags.

 

Right and our trade ammo is limited to begin with. I expect some better deals to be available later.

 

i wonder about okc adding a center. interesting experiment, but it could work against their strengths.

what's the path? houston would have to move fvv or several other players to get PG.

i thought under the new cba, any non-guaranteed deal had to be guaranteed in order to trade it. it closed the old loophole of instant expirings.

we wouldn't have been that far off, right? but yeah, just outside our price range. i imagine bridges wanted to to to ny, too, so that probably factored in.

 

we had major leverage there with him basically indicating he'd wait it out and sign here. that's what we'll need again in the future from luka or whomever to get a similar deal.

hartenstein's out of our range, salary-wise. don't think we want an incoming S&T to hard cap us at this point, nor do i think ny can/will do that.

 

FVV being shipped out has been a rumor during this big game hunting they've been considering this summer. Where/ for what? Dunno.

You might be right. I think there's some partial guarantee you can do. Not sure of the details, cap is still too new, but that's been one of the talking points regarding GS moving CP.

 

Guys can change their opinions on things over time. With James drifting more out to the perimeter, Julius would be serious problem here coupled with AD. We'd still need a 5, but at 29, he's worth the pursuit if he wanted to come home.
