I don't want to derail it too much, but one of the big selling points on standing pat at the deadline instead of going the Mavs route and using first round picks to get you to the finals was that we would be able to package all 3 this summer for something. Well, once again the market at draft time isn't what we thought it would be and the only available "stars"... you don't want. Yeah, we just saw to opposite ends of the spectrum. AC for free. Bridges for everything. Curious where it lands for everyone else. He's not gone until he's gone. Livin' on a prayer over here. He can definitely play if deployed right. He has nba size, might be small for a C and big for a PF, so I'd be curious to see how that would figure itself out. I'd take him over Missi or Ware just cause I don't think they're ready. If we like the type of those two, I'd rather Bona in the 2nd.
i just think chicago didn't want picks for caruso. the 13th from sac was a weak offer, imo. best they could do was a prospect whose rights they control. i'm not a giddey fan, but i get prioritizing a player over picks--especially when they're not unprotected picks in the distant future. and i know i sound like i'm talking out of both sides of my mouth on picks. i generally don't value them very highly. i'm just VERY wary of trading unprotected picks outside of a predictable window. so ny giving up two picks 5+ years out is a real gamble to me. but okc's "treasure trove" of a zillion protected picks, many of which overlap...nope. don't want 'em. they'll end up burning half of them one way or another. and i'd burn our 17 and the next 17 and so on. but i won't burn an unprotected 2031 draft pick so lebron can play with brad beal or something. yeah, bona popped for me when i watched him play in college. not a star, but if you like bismack biyombo, he's your guy. and he's more ready than ware or missi, imo.
Yeah the Kings deal wasn't great. But the shot themselves in the foot at the deadline where multiple firsts were being offered and by not attaching him to LaVine to get out from under that contract because now that there's no AC, no one wants him. Really like his motor. If we take De Silva (or another F/G) and wind up with another 2nd rounder other than the one we're using on Bronny, he'd be my pick. If not him then Lil' Christie just cause All In The Family mode would be fun.
The latest: 11. Chicago Bulls Devin Carter, PG/SG 12. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Rockets) Nikola Topic 13. Sacramento Kings Ron Holland 20. Cleveland Cavaliers Tristan Da Silva 21. New Orleans Pelicans (via Bucks) Yves Missi 24. New York Knicks (via Mavericks) Isaiah Collier 26. Washington Wizards (via Clippers) Kel'el Ware 28. Denver Nuggets DaRon Holmes II 55. Los Angeles Lakers (via Clippers) Bronny James, PG/SG, USC | Age: 19.7
I'd keep that pick, if Zach was still on the board. If he was grabbed earlier then I would be open to dealing it.
San Antonio with 2 high picks has an opportunity to place some good pieces around Wemby. They could be interesting in a few years as the kids fill out.
Trade this pick along with the 2 others we can throw away, go all in on LeBron’s few years… throw in JHS while you’re at it Rob lol
lol, forgot the first round was tonight. this is always a fun night for me. i'm old now, so i just kinda have a glass of wine and check in here and there, but when i was young, my friends and i would all get together and yell at the screen for the duration. good times.
I think if Edey is available, you gotta take him. I wanted Lively last year and of course he went earlier than expected, so I'm hoping Edey doesn't go early because there's reports of the BLAZERS taking him as high as 7th, or taking him at 14th. I swear that team don't knwo what the f*** they're doing...targeting Edey when you already have Ayton AND RObert Williams is crazyyyy however if they do take Edey I'm down to trade for RWIII for 10 cents on the dollar
williams has never played more than 60 games and has played 41 games the past two years. i guess if someone gave him to me for nothing at all, i consider it. but i don't have a lot of faith that he'll stay healthy, and i actually thought he was pretty overrated anyway. feel like there are guys in the draft who are energetic undersized centers who aren't real sharp or skilled. and some can be had in the second round.
Lakers need to try and jump ahead of the Bulls. You would think they would want more for Carter. He would be a good fit next to both White and Giddy, and replace Caruso's defense.
OKC is loaded with roster spots. We could offer a 2029 unprotected 1st for #12. Then trade #12 and two future 2nds to Memphis for #9 and get Carter.
Old abeer just means you have more wisdom. I have more wisdom too...lol. Having the draft around the summer solstice is perfect and just part of the fun. From late May to early August it doesn't get dark here so it is just a big buzzing time of activity.
