Agree 100%. But contracts end, options come into play, stars get older, and injuries happen. So you just never know. We will never be able to run back the same season and hope for different results, but it should be very interesting to see what we do moving forward. Where is I see ham being incapable of adjusting to a roster that doesn’t fit his system, I feel like JJ will be the type of person who will adjust his scheme, and only to his players, but to who is healthy and play them to their strengths. I just don’t think Ham was capable of doing that or was wired that way.
Agreed. My sources are telling me we are making a big play for ice trae. Admittedly, I'm my own source...lol. I have seen others discussing it. I know some are very down on him but his passing is elite.
As long as they don’t include AR I’m fine with Trae. Trade all the available picks plus my favorite Laker JHS, with RUI and DLo if he opts in OR LeBron plus picks and get Trae
I'm a big fan of Austin. I don't move him unless it's for a bona fide superstar or a no brainer upgrade at his position. If that opens up, sure. Until then, nope.
They have to keep Reaves just because unless you trade him for a true star like Mitchell, the Lakers won't be good enough without Reaves to be a true contender. The dude has his weaknesses but I really don't see much difference between him and other 3rd star types like Desmond Bane. The dude is built for the playoffs - just good at a lot of stuff and if you're trying to target him either on defense or offense, the Lakers have won essentially. He did a very credible job on defense even as a POA defender when his legs weren't gassed.
yeah, he's off limits if the return isn't an all nba player in his prime, imo. agree on the bane comp., and bane's getting paid 35 million next year (!). moving reaves for say, dejounte murray, isn't going to get it done.
Most importantly we cant trade Reaves cuz he's on the most team friendly deal in the entire league probably at only $12M per year. That is insane value.
if atlanta moves young, they're in full rebuild and thus have less interest in reaves, imo. i suppose they might think they could jrue holiday it and move him for something else, but we wouldn't do it, imo.
Reaves is a homegrown talent and a very personable young man and liked by everybody in the organization, it would take a lot to convince Jeanie and the Rambii to include him in any deal short of a perennial MVP candidate
He should hire a new agent. He got hosed with that contract. He can't opt out for another 2 seasons, that was a terrible deal.
No. Short term it was limited for the 1st two years or something like that. But his salary could have bumped up to 20-25M per afterwards. He should have signed a shorter deal here, with an opt out after this season. It's not like we were going to say no to that.
no. he could have gotten 4/100 if his agent could have convinced someone to make a poison pill offer. i think we did a good job warding that off by claiming we'd match, and we would have, he's probably worth 25 per, too, and the balloon payments wouldn't come until after next year. i do wonder if he might regret not signing a shorter deal, though. then again, reaves seems like a down-to-earth guy, and he probably figures he's got 50 million in the bank, and that's pretttty good.
