rondo and a couple former HCs to serve as offensive/defensive coordinators would be an ideal staff for redick
IF the defensive guy was any good. Is that you Rajon?? I doubt JJ and LJ need anything on the offensive end, though I guess there are other duties during games to help take load off HC’s plate?
I wonder what this team will look like actually running plays, as well as sets that involve player movement.
I think jj knows how important it is to run the defense through picks, have cutters and steady ball movement. Should make us a good 4th quarter team and be fun to watch. Shooting percentages will go up as well. (Hopefully)
ball AND player movement. can he get his podcast buddy to make himself a threat off the ball? get AD to flash strong and curl more often? will he get guys setting screens for AD and lebron to get post ups? we saw so little of this with ham and vogel, and i feel like it's there for the taking. either of our stars catching on the move near the paint is a problem for other teams, but we've insisted on both catching on the standstill several feet outside their damage zone.
I think most of us are really done with the “give the ball to one guy to create something” offense. This didn’t work when we had TWO of the most dominant forces in Shaq and Kobe along with a lot of talent around them, until Phil was brought in, to maximize that talent and create a structure.
I feel like we would have had one or two more chips with a great coach leading these LeBron/AD squads AND of course not destroying the team either with the Westbrick debacle.
never made sense why dudley would leave the mavs to work with an unknown as HC. its not like the lakers were going to throw a ton of $ at an assistant
With Sweeney in the mix for the Detroit job, Dudz might slide over a chair, too. So no Cassell. No Dudz. I think Brooks and Rondo are the most likely locks. Stotts is a possibility, but I think it's either or with Books. Both would want the lead assistant role. You only want one with HC aspirations. You want the other to be done as a HC, like Hollins was. That's why SVG would be perfect but since we've heard nothing about that option maybe he's just not in the right head space for it. Understandably. Irwin said we've spoken to Miles Simon about coming back, but that's probably a behind the bench role. Maybe he comes back: Still need a couple more guys.
With JJ being a new HC, I imagine he may want a guy or 2 that he knows to be part of the staff. Maybe some prior assistant from his playing days or someone he knows from the NBA network
