I actually think JJ will be fine. Phil was not an Xs and Os guy, Tex was the guru. Phil was great at managing guys (egos) and if JJ can do that, he will be just fine. Roster construction is a more critical issue to me.

i've been one of the folks more open to the idea of young. i think there are some logistical issues, but this wouldn't be westbrook part II. he's a much better fit. we'd have to get another vando or two to make it work, though!
wrong thread, but... if dlo would opt in for the trade: rui/dlo/gabe/jhs/17/lotto protected 29 would actually shave about 6-7 million off the cap, which should enable us to re-sign prince using non-bird rights, re-sign max using early bird rights, and maybe still use the tpmle (dinwiddie?) trae/dinwiddie reaves/christie/reddish vando/prince/lewis lebron/wood AD/dayron sharpe (or if not possible, bitdaze?) expensive roster, but probably an improvement? if dlo opts out, we'd have to empty out more salary and may not even end up able to use the full mle anyway, so that wouldn't be ideal. anyway, it's the redick thread: my guess is roster construction will pivot to offense, which is a bummer when AD is your best player, imo.
