Feels a bit like the Russ trade might have robbed us of another Finals against the C Bags. Had we just run the 2022 back with some of the same minimum signings I think its us in the Finals instead of that kinda meh Warriors team. I wish we'd gotten them instead of Miami in 2020.

Thought Kidd basically ran out of ideas. Boston was pressuring the s*** out of Luke and Kyrie as they had the bodies to do so. Really mucked up their offense as it slowed everything down.

Felt he should have given Exum a shot with both of those guys to have another ballhandler and just speed things up for them.

The C-Bags' defense was off the charts.

Okay, so now we really have our work cut out for us.

To say Jason Kidd got outcoached would be the understatement of the year. He looked like Darvin Ham with glasses.

People were stating that he was “the next Kobe” after he won his Chip?
Wow, that was just an awful comp. I must have blocked it from memory based off of how ridiculous it was.

No one will ever be the next Kobe or any Laker player, let them be themselves instead of comparing to other players

but he's a better coach than vogel apparently and the lakers should've hired him instead in 2019

i don't know if kidd is a good coach or not, tbh. i lean towards no, though. he's got luka, and that erases a lot of stuff. and maybe boston just couldn't be schemed against with his personnel (and luka's injury). but kidd has mostly underachieved his roster's talent, imo.

in the end, vogel got us a ring. lue, kidd, or williams might have, too, but they're all ringless since. not to go all slick on ya, but the players matter. i don't think joe mazulla is special. he had the best healthy players this year, so he won.

People who talk like that live in the moment with no perspective.

Well, Kidd got a ring with us for being Vogel's assistant/FO's plan B! (Lue would've hired Vogel to be his top a***itant too...)

Players matter as you said. Who knows if Kidd was missing something, but Dallas had the second best record in the league after getting PJ Washington and Gafford. We can talk all day about whether a coach is good or not, but the players bought in for Kidd and they got farther than anyone expected. They got upside given how young most of the group is and they have room to upgrade their roster.

Ham unexpectedly got us to the WCF, and turns out he’s a terrible coach. Jury is still out on Kidd, but if nothing else, he seems to still have new levels to achieve.
