Then we should hire him as an assistant, and let the new hire get scapegoated first.

I still don't get how he was head coach for 2 seasons .He should not be allowed to coach even his high school team.Maybe he's cool at bringing coffee or washing a jersey after the game. And he was nobody in his career as a player as well.

Like I said..you obviously think that coaching in the NBA, is simple and easy. Any Ole Joe can do it.

We can save money, and hire a couple of resident Legends on this board

Abeer, Sirron and JSM, might make up a good staff. LT for player development.

    I'm actually intrigued...

I didn't say that But Ham never should be allowed to be a head coach. He s not even Doc Rivers and I don't think that he will be a head coach any time soon

Yeah. I am with you here.

I feel like folks have wanted Ham fired for the majority of the season (some since he was hired). There were constant complaints right down to an entire meme campaign about him having hands in his pockets (in fairness I laughed at some of those too).

Now, the wish has been granted and it really does feel like the narrative has completely changed and anyone who is smart can do it. Just get them a couple of good assistants.

Which is also weird to me because if we are relying on the assistant to keep the head coach from crashing out then why not just hire the assistant as the head coach and let JJ learn from him as a part of the staff?

And the front office is really sticking its neck out there saying they think he is next Pat Riley. Riley is 1 of 1. Very few have been that good as coaches and execs.

Crazy times even for our team.

Lol..Yeah that's D'Angelo, Rui, Austin and probably Max. 5% of 77. Funny thing is.. they might all be playing somewhere else, next season too.

Tough times for the Clips. They don’t want Lue but also can’t let him come to us.

    Decisions. Decisions.

Aw man the intrigue afoot....Lue resigns...Ballmer then immediately pivots, and "scoops" the Lakers, by offering Reddick, a 10 year garunteed contract!

    Lol..man..True Hollywood story right there.

Lue has leverage right now. Toilet Sweat is waiting until he has none, which happens as soon as we hire JJ (or whoever). Cheap game of chicken, but definitely not above Ballmer.

Putting out that they see Reddick as the next Riley is hilarious. Our FO has some real clowns calling the shots, and zero originality, always trying to duplicate the past without actually understanding why and how things in the past worked out.

    we can only dream.

i don't get this at all. if you don't want him, then tell him he can buy himself out of his last year with his new contract. i don't understand what the hold up is for the clippers. you either think he's great or you don't. if you don't, what does it matter if he coaches for us?

also did i miss where someone in our FO said redick is the next riley? i've said that he or kerr is definitely the model one would have to be operating from to buy jj as head coach, but i didn't hear anyone official say it. is this irwin again?

[IMG] .... I've mentioned Riles more than once for sure. And I stand by it with the "situation" being very similar. Zero HC and zero / next to zero assistant experience, right out of the color broadcast seat into the position BASED on Jerry listening to his current great and past great players' opinions from West and Johnson. Role players with their strengths being Pat was decent and the tough scrappy player, while JJ was actually better skills wise, had the better career and eats, sleeps and drinks the basketball Xs and Os. If anything JJ, period of time in between notwithstanding, I think is more qualified IF that is what our current all time great honestly thinks.

…yeah, that’s wild. Talk about putting a lot of pressure on someone with no experience. Going to be even wilder later on because we know they are going to completely reverse course and act as if they were held at gunpoint by LeBron and Klutch if the hire doesn’t work out.
