I think that guy that you're speaking about just got hired in Budenholzer; by all "reports", he was going to be a frontrunner for the position, and I think that was the "retread" the Lakers were looking at, IMO.

Plans might have shifted when he got taken from the board; then again, I don't think the Lakers would have paid up and he would've landed in Phoenix either way. I could still see Atkinson, who's more of a longer shot to me now unless I get a report that he's "blown" the FO away. Borrego just doesn't make any sense to me other than as a top assistant.

Then it’s Borrego lol a true grinder… not that I endorse him, I am Team Coach Rondo or Stotts, who aren’t in the running

I'm not comparing summer routines. I'm describing what I think Rob is looking for when he describes a "grinder," and pointed to Kobe as an "example," as the model of what he's looking for, ok?

This doesn't need to be a "grind" in back and forth conversation? :)

Lol Apparently, the Lakers are searching for someone who is a "grinder," meaning they will likely prioritize a coach who is hard working and determined over a skilled one.
So if Phil decides to go coach again he's not going to be considered :ADORLY2:

@VladeD714 … I was saying JJ sounded like the grinder mentality with how he approached his off season, understanding what’s being meant with the term. AD for instance is not. Doesn’t start prepping right away (I mean how many players would aside from Kobe) …. and doesn’t practice hard enough to get consistent with his mid range J again. Whether he’s your choice for coach or not.

    I'm currently grinding @sirronstuff

He can't post because he's a little occupied right now.

Give me JJ and LeBron with a competent staff so we’re not all hoping the guy can cut the mustard with our superstars these next 2 years … as they have all the input they want to have and are not locked into some unknown vision for better or worse. They have to own it and support it. “IF” JJ is that guy they want. We don’t know officially.

    what is happening here?

    :Jeanie Srsly: :Schrooder Clown:

My school used to serve Grinders on Thursday, but I guess we're talking about a studious hard working disciplined individual.

    ........ like JJ Redick?

Grinder and his last name..... this could be a problem for some people here who can't keep it in their pants. @VladeD714 is that you Dwight?

I would think Chris Quinn from the Miami Heat would be an exactly the type of grinder the Lakers are looking for.

Heat culture under Riley and Spo is to be tough and grind it out, their entire organization is about being gritty.

If Quinn has been an assistant under Spo for all these years and is of the same Riley tough minded mentality, that’s the guy I would want.

With Quinn, he’s also had a lot of actual coaching experience where as JJ is on a podcast with no experience handling a team on a day to day basis…

If I was a different person I’d add a link for a certain app, but luckily I’m not that guy.
