Really not a bad idea considering what is out there. The meltdown might be more than mini which is always interesting.

i'm still high on him but Quinn intrigues me out of Miami.

Of the people whose names I've heard as of now I'd go:
    Assistants
    Adelman
    Nori / Quinn - Tie

    Coaches
    Lue
    Atkinson
    Stotts
    Borego

I'd probably rank Lue the highest overall but I think there's a high chance we are being used to negotiate a higher salary. Adelman is next up and a more realistic get.

    Phil Jackson says hi.

    P.S. I know you meant statistically/historically.

I would take Rondo over any of these.

He is exactly that type of a****** genius...

nori just reminds me way too much of luke

people are rushing to crown him as the next great HC prospect when he's just doing whatever finch tells him to do. just like how a rock could've coached that warriors team to success while kerr was out

If we were running with a guy based strictly on his relationship with the players, he’d be my guy. I think he should be on the staff.

We literally won a championship 4 years ago with an experienced coach.

We are about to hire our 8th coach or something, in the last 12-13 seasons. Maybe the coach hasn't always been the problem? We tend to think that our players, are better than they really are sometimes IMO. And some magic coach is all we need, I disagree with that sentiment, it's more about the players to me.

There have been 8 different coaching staffs, that have been to the Finals, in the last 5 seasons. There could be 2 more this season.

There are a lot of guys out here, that know the game. That’s why I'm not overly impressed, with this "great basketball mind" stuff, in regards to JJ or Rondo. They aren’t the only great basketball minds, in this game.

The roster is more important IMO, coupled with being blessed with good health, good team chemistry, with a bit of luck thrown in.

Experienced, inexperienced, I'm not sure if there is a blueprint for the HC. Put a good roster together, hire a competent staff, have some luck on the injury front, and let the players do their thing. That's the winning formula IMO.

Rob is under the spotlight moving forward IMO. He puts the roster together, and he hires the coaching staff. This is a big offseason for him, and I'm curious to see what he comes up with. If we keep coming up lacking, maybe he's the problem.

Are we paying a Rob Pelinka tax, on top of the Lakers tax too?

“In Pelinka's conversations with officials across the league, the term "grinder" keeps coming up in the general manager's description of an important characteristic for the next coach, sources said.

The initial interview list is expected to include assistant candidates such as Miami's Chris Quinn and New Orleans' James Borrego, sources said.”

What does grinder actually mean in regards to coaching? A guy putting in 100hrs weeks? Obsessed with every minor detail? Just curious

Yeah. Thats an interesting term. I feel like it definitely points to someone who will put in the extra hours though.

if it's a leak from the FO, makes it seem like we're going for a high profile retread like borrego/atkinson. i'm actually souring on this idea the more i think about it. this is the guy to hire post-lebron, imo.

That's solid. I just don't see Lue leaving; Any of those work for me. I think the "safe" choice is Stotts. Previous experience, we have footage on him, he's coached a superstar in his prime in Dame, etc.

Rob's best friend was Kobe - He knows what a "grinder" is, right? Kobe was the literal definition of a "grinder" - a guy who eat, breathed, and slept basketball. That's what I think he would mean, IMO.

JJ describing his summer workouts starting day after his season ended fits fine. NOBODY was Kobe’s level of grinder.
