There’s a coach who’s not really being considered but should be: Becky Hammon.

8 year NBA coach under Pop, who fully endorses her. Their players endorse her. LeBron has said good things about her. NBA teams wouldn’t give her a head coaching position, so she went to the WNBA and immediately won back-to-back championships.

Pau Gasol has supported her as a head coach since 2018 and wrote an entire article backing her, saying:

He also knocks down all the arguments against a woman head coach and says those arguments are trash, including dumb locker room arguments.

I’d sign on for Vogel again since I never wanted him fired but doubt that Bron would.

I can get on board with this. She would be a much better choice at this point at least in theory than Redick.

So LeBron saved us from the gutter in whatever year it was so we should cater to him and suck for the next 5+ years? No thank you...lol. The wheels are already off on defense.

Easy to understand, LeBron has shown himself to be uncoachable and now he can't take over games like he used to. LeBron has value as a player in a certain role. If he is your main dude, your a play in team that need some good fortune to advance. I'm sure he would like to win but not enough to play the support AD role. His ego > desire to win.

Actually, Abeer, this may be the most level headed line of thinking I've seen here yet. Humor LeBron, while realizing what he is and not taking him too seriously. It is possible with a better coach we might be able to avoid the playin. I'm also with Cookie in that I would like to see the revolving door on coaches stop. The main issue I have with all this is that it is irritating watching AD'S prime wasted while we cater to someone like, LeBron. Very good post.

I do not know enough about the candidates, but Borrego did win 2 championships in San Antonio as an assistant, and Head coaching experience is something that should be valued over not having it man.

What the hell is up with this job, if not having done the job before qualifies you more? That makes absolutely zero sense, my guys.

with this said, I'm still hoping for Stotts. His Portland teams in general were better than they should have been. I feel he was the correct choice 2 years ago, and is probably the correct choice now too given the lack of other interesting options.

Many seem to be looking at it as they are just hiring a coach to be a placeholder till LeBron retires. Then hiring a legitimate coach and building to try and win after that. But, if all we needed was a placeholder, we are already paying Ham and could have kept him. He was actually the perfect coach for LeBron as neither will accept responsibility for their mistakes. Whatever they decide I will immediately support whoever it is...lol.

I guess our disconnect on this is I don’t see LeBron by his actions advertantly or inadvertently holding AD back. He had one hell of a year. If he’d hit that short J more frequently as he ought to be able to do he’d routinely be hitting 25-30 points a game and with less effort. Being that AD sells out as a winner on the defensive end it’s unreasonable though to have to “make” him the focal point of the offense for some questionable reasoning. He’s 30 now giving us that kind of effort on D every game. In a well run offense as I would expect from LeBron and JJ’s mind there should be good shots for everyone and AD and LeBron whoever has the better shot after the motion with that good offense …. take it.

Jeez Toklat every post you are hating on him or bemoaning what he can’t do any more consistently every night. It’s clear you want him out of here but it’s not happening, thankfully, in my opinion. I still thoroughly am happy I get to watch him every game play for my Lakers. Maybe come up with some positive things you hope that will be included in whatever our team looks like on offense and defense, that if LeBron wasn’t also such a a-hole now seemingly in your mind, he’d be “capable” physically to do with whoever’s coaching the team’s scheming?

That he never does now, doesn’t do often enough? Again … is reasonable to expect out of him at 40.

On Buha's pod he had a few important notes in it:

    1) he's heard Chris Quinn from Miami is another assistant there's some level of interest in. Sounds like he's further down the list.
    2) of the assistants Adelman and Nori are the favorite assistant coaches among some of the front office.
    3) target hire date is before the draft. They want them to be part of the process. Whether it's trade or draft.
    4) if he had to pick today who he thinks the coach will be, he thinks it's JJ. there's enough breadcrumbs to make that assumption at this point. Bud was among the early front runners but he's off the board (thankfully).

Cranjis is going to **** on every name unless it's Adleman. Isn't he happy enough that their interviewing his beloved David? We know JJ hasn't coached and he's bringing no experience. Like freaking duh? I brought up Borrego as an assistant a few pages back and there is nothing wrong with him on the third chair at all, IMO. Am I angry that we're interviewing him for a coaching position? No, not at all. Interview EVERYBODY.

FYI: I will say with Atkinson (if he's hired) the hope is that he's learned in GS and that the system he runs will incorporate of what GS does; fast pace, off ball action, screening, etc.

Didn't want Bud. They're hiring JJ, IMO. They better equip him with a dynamite staff & and that's essentially what I think we're interviewing for right now.
