i don't think they fired him based on anything related to player performance allowing a new HC to build his own staff from top to bottom makes for a much more attractive gig
yeah, phil's not a psychologist, and rui was just kinda choking out there. that surprised me considering that he stepped up a bit the previous year. but i think there's a big difference in stepping up unexpectedly and being expected to step up. not many folks handle the latter; lots of folks can do the former. not to go off on a tangent, but jamal murray is a case that bothers me. he plays with such a generational talent that when he does stuff (that's WAY easier bc jokic) people go nuts. but everone's silent when he's basically the same guy as dlo for 82 games. nobody expects anything of him. delivering is easier when that's the case. you see it with tatum in boston, too. when he was up and coming, he did some crazy stuff. when the finals came around, he looked spooked, imo. maybe he'll get over it now, but that's not about skill development. it's mental and experiential. anyway, it's the phil handy thread. i hope we keep him because i think he's a good guy to have around in general and a player recruitment draw. i feel like our plan A is he's here again. the only real reason for him to leave, imo, is if someone offered him a HC gig. i think that's unlikely.
Murray can take over games and be pretty unstoppable. He can dribble penetrate. And he can defer. Very different players, and not a very fair comparison.

Jamal Murray avg 25/6/5 in 59 career playoff games dude. He is nothing like D'Angelo Russell. Or Mike Bibby either..SMH. Jokic didn't make Murray, for some reason, you seem to be stuck on pushing that narrative.
peak seasons, which one is which? and you're lucky i just chose each's best season. if you stretch it out to sustained performance, it looks worse for your man.

this is regular season. i said murray is bibby. you're the one that brought up the playoffs only (i even said 82 games in my post--even though murray played 59 in his best year, this year). bibby was also quite clutch in the playoffs. he just didn't take as many shots in the playoffs due to a) the kings' offense and b) the era. you're also comparing murray's prime with stats that are largely from when bibby was shot. i made a fair comparison, peak to peak. again, i could stretch it out to best three years, but then bibby wins instead of it looking identical.
Weird take man. Murray is a little jerk off, but his last 3 seasons, are better than any 3 season run Bibby had in 14.
simply factually incorrect. i've already posted some of the numbers. you can look up the rest. take bibby's top 3, and don't just focus on the box scores (though they're quite similar). part of the reason murray is a jerkoff is because he's bibby and thinks he's kobe. can't decide if you're overrating murray, underrating bibby, or both.

Not annoyed, just stating a fact haha. He's gone. Our players remain undeveloped. Not sure what my opinion is, but the combination of Ham and Handy clearly didn't do squat for development. It's not surprising they went another direction.
