Interesting. I'm thinking Hibbert will get more open looks here with JC and Russell and obviously Kobe. I'd hope his percentage bumps up a little bit. I'd also hope his mid-range shot amount would drop a bit. Something like 40%/35% would be nice.

Don't know, I love Julius but he's gotta earn his stripes. It sends a wrong message when competition is avoided. Not just to Julius but the entire team.

I thought so too but then the next post he mentions Russell starting and Bass being ok with it. Scratching my head here.

Sorry, Ras, long day. I meant PF, and I meant Randall. In the "give the FO a break thread" yesterday I outlined what I wanted to see from the FO. A backup PG, a backup PF allowing us to move on from Kelly, and a starting caliber SF unless we plan to start Kobe there, which might be the case, or we still might be looking to move Young and get a SF. So yes, what I meant to say was I asked for a backup PF and got one. And if the team wants to start developing Randall and start him, I think Bass would be a pro about it, they'd probably split minutes anyway.

All in all, pretty decent signings. I was hoping we'd sign some quality players and here we are. Bass is definitely a tough guy.

Need more of those type players.

Solid player on both sides ... We can use him to defend big SFs at times ...

It is an NBA diagnosis about this guy:

    Symptom: making lists

On topic: Bass will give Hibbert room to operate down low as his defender can't cheat and drop back when both are on the floor together. We have yet to see how Randle's outside shot and overall game is looking to anoint him as the starter.

    Not a huge Bass fan...

on paper before the season, everything always seems rosy but one has to wait to see how it plays out.

On paper Lin sounded like a great addition, same with Boozer.

Lakers lose Ed Davis, Jordan Hill, Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin...on paper is sounds good.
Lakers get Louis Williams, Brandon Bass, Roy Hibbert and D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle...on paper it sounds better but not like 20 wins better.

Whether the team performs better overall depends on chemistry, fit, a healthy Kobe and our rookie development. It will be interesting to see but honestly, I don't see us making the playoffs with the current team. But I think if we can win 40+ games, that gives us a much better chance at the FA chase than a 20 win team. So the question is can we win 20 more games? right now, I'm not convinced.

You mentioned Hibbert once in October. Neither of the other players.

    NEXT!

I never liked the lin add. I felt about boozer how I feel about bass.

I hope people aren't really expecting playoffs or 20 wins better. i'll say this: the lakers probably could have won ten more games with a little better luck injury-wise and a consistent interest in actually winning games (as opposed to tanking the last half of the season).

I'm expecting 30-35 wins. mild progress and only forfeiting the 10th pick or so.
