That's the thing, in his case why not wait for a team to offer him a deal? You don't get stuck overpaying or bidding against yourself.
Guess ryan kelly is prob the piece goin back to indiana. Also saw that sacre might go too but not too sure. Im sure we'll get more info soon
they needed a value signing after what they mistakenly gave Rondo. Guess Vlade didn't count the zeros before making him the offer.
Mitch has done a good job recovering, but there's still some glaring problems in the FO that need taking care of. I'm no longer calling for him and Jim's head, but I certainly expect changes to be implemented moving forward regarding how they pitch FAs. Any who, this roster is coming together pretty nicely. Assuming we're going to have to dump Nick in one of our deals... MAN I hope Mitch can wand Justin Anderson out of the Mavs. There's no reason for us to help them unless the give us an asset we want. They NEED a PG and we need an asset out of them. If we can get Justin Anderson for Lin, I'd be absolutely floored. Russell/Williams Clarkson/J. Brown Bryant/Anderson/A. Brown Randle/Bass/Nance Jr. Hibbert/Black/Upshaw That's sick. Maybe add a guy like Caron Butler for depth if Anderson or Brown need some more marinating. If the young guys step up big time in these roles... We definitely could fight for that last playoff spot. I don't expect us to, but we could.
I mean its a win win for both parties, so why wouldn't they trade Anderson for Lin, mavs are in win now mode while we're in rebuilding to potentially making the playoffs mode, and if they can't do that, look at the bulls and try to get either of their sf's in snell, nikola, or mcdermott.
Yeah. Reggie Freaking Jackson gets, annually, only 9 mil less than Kobe Bryant. And is on a longer contract. Let that sink in for a moment.
$16 million for a guy that hasn't sniffed the All Star game, let alone earning a starting spot in the league. I like Reggie, but he'll be forever linked to that contract, much like Juwann Howard and his ridiculous contract several moons ago. Good luck Detroit, you're gonna need it.
Corey Joseph is getting $30 mil/4 years from Toronto. It's interesting that they let Lou walk for less money.
That lineup would only rate as a "good" job at recovering? I think our lack of pitching has been waaaaaay overblown. So we lost in a pitch with Aldridge. We lost to the Spurs who have Duncan, Parker, Leonard and the best coach in the league. We don't know how much of the media's narrative of, "LMA thought the Lakers were functionally r*******." was even true. Realdeal, You are the light when things are dark with this team. You have gone real dark the last few days when the reality is we had little to no shot at LMA or DJ in the first place, and Mitch is about to roll out a team with 3 slick combo guards (one of which was first team all rookie and another is the reigning 6th man of the year), a defensive behemoth at center, a very solid veteran backup pf and MAYBE one of the best 3 and D wings in last year's draft. And that's a "good" recovery? All season we saw little to no way we could make the playoffs this coming season, and Mitch may very well have constructed a team that can finish as high as 7th, IMO. That team is really deep and really versatile. I think that team can leap frog the Pelicans with some good health. HEck, if we lost Kobe I still like our chances. At this point all Kobe provides is some borderline inefficient offense. Defensively, he's a ghost. And we could have 3 guys behind him (Anderson, Nance, Brown) who are all known for their defense. We will have plenty of scoring without him.
Crazy money being thrown around... Even if the Lakers haven't been successful with the big fishes, they did not do a similar knee jerk reaction to whoever is out there. Their recent moves are what we have been waiting and wanting for. Solid, dependable players that can contribute to this coming campaign.
If you knew 2 weeks ago we were going to end up with Hibbert / Lou / Bass & possibly more in addition to our 3 solid draft picks, would anyone here be calling for FO change?
That completely misses the point though. If you walked through a terrifying forest to get to a candy store, do you forget the forest?
I'm not quite caught up so please pardon... We're signing Williams & Bass, but there's still rumors of deal with Chi. Young, Hill and Lin for Butler? I think money is about right. We get a SF, they get Lin, who they want, a replacement SF, and PF/C.
