I’m definitely okay with us making moves. I don’t think we can count on another year of good health for our stars. Also tend to think we can make moves while still having some good pieces left.

Need to see the actual asking price on some of these players. I think the price for Mitchell will be high. Not sure that will be the case for guys like Murray and Young.

Plus there are always surprise names that pop up.

I expect to be active especially since I don’t think we get out of the first round.

All top seed teams won the first playoff matches for the first time since 2013

All first matches ended in favor of teams with the home advantage

    «Cleveland», «Minnesota», «New York», «Denver», «Boston», « Clippers », Milwaukee » and « Oklahoma

if we didn't owe NO our first round pick, i'd advocate for blowing it up, tbh. the teams that finished at the top aren't going anywhere next year, and lebron won't last beyond that, imo.

so my primary focus this summer is not screwing up the next five years so that we can finish 5th or 6th and maybe make the 2nd round instead of finishing 7th and losing in the 1st round.

I could also live with some trades, but don't want to do any big ones that mortgage the future for the delusion of title chances with Bron on a max contract (should he demand one). You give it to him, sure, just don"t pretendend you put rings first if he's on a max at this stage of his career. Just wait it out while building for the future around AD.

I was thinking the same thing, during the game vs. Denver, regarding “blowing it up.” Our FO won’t because they will milk the LeBron Cash Cow until his hoofs fall off.

LeBron James at 39, is still at worst, the 2nd best player on the team. Other than AD, I'm not really sure, what we have that's soo critical, that we shouldn't even consider making any moves.

Shrug..seriously..will Austin, D'Angelo, Rui or Jarred...EVER be as good, as LeBron James is right now?

future picks and financial and roster flexibility for the post-lebron era.

you're right that it's not like we're super special, but shuffling just to shuffle doesn't make sense. i don't want to consolidate money into a third star of the ilk we could actually get (young), so at that point continuity has more value than switching out pieces.

and i'm fine with a tweak or two (e.g., moving a guard or forward for a center who could start next to AD), too. it just doesn't feel like that's what the FO will do.

True. But it’s not like the fans don’t get something at least in return …. which IMO is still watching this generational and all time talent play for our team. With our roster it can be thrilling and like Showtime in mini bursts. I realize that does nothing for “the ring is the only thing folks”. I like the basketball we still get to see. And always hope with LeBron and AD healthy we have a puncher’s chance in the playoffs.

It's dependent on the player in question Abeer, I think it's less than a 5% chance, that we are even remotely interested, in a Trae Young trade myself.

Donovan Mitchell at 35M tho? I'd definitely consider that idea, it depends on where he wanted to go, it's not all about, what's the best deal that Cleveland could get.

Healthy. That kid puts us on par with any team in the League...with Lebron. After Lebron, we'd still be a contender. Rolling the dice on a guy still in his physical prime, that's not an outlandish idea IMO.

This right here.If it’s DM then you go all in.Other wise tweaks here and there to give the impression the FO is actually trying

I get it, I just don’t think this pairing of AD and LeBron can beat a healthy Nuggets team. LeBron isn’t getting any younger. He played great all season, and we still barely won the eighth seed. If we had drafted him, then I would feel differently.
I would just much rather see us go for a second “star” to fit next to AD now, then wait how ever many more seasons for LeBron to retire.
Also, AD(31) isn’t that young anymore either. If we wait another couple of seasons to win another Chip with AD and another “star,” it may be too late.

i'd be SHOCKED if we even got in the bidding on mitchell. he's CAA (knicks) and apparently pals with bam. the east is an easier conference; the money is the same. and he'd have to demand US and not have those guys on the list. just not happening, imo. he's going to one of those two places, imo.

my low-key star on the move is KAT, but i think GS can outbid us there (what a fit with AD, though).

i just think in the star chase, we're looking at young. and tbh, SAS or NO can outbid us there (mercifully).

so we're shuffling deck chairs. and if that's the case, just try to gain an advantage through continuity if possible.

i am interested in some of the mid-tier guys that could shake loose, including even our old friend randle.

I agree that Mitchell isn't happening. He wants to wants to be in a glamour market but he also wants to be the guy. That's not happening on a LeBron James team. He's a NY guy and can be the co-guy with Brunson.

I'd keep an eye on PG. Didn't get the extension done and they're going to pay Harden. If he wants to stay in LA, maybe he tells the Clips he'll either sign with Philly and they'll lose him for nothing or they can get something back from us in a S&T. Idk, that's the only other name I could think of. I could see Randle being on the roster next year, but in a trade for LeBron if LeBron decides he's done and wants to contend.

was going to mention PG, but ballmer would die before letting him come here. i actually think the chess move is to get to PG's people and tell him if he asks to be moved here, we'll max him. that will lock the clips into paying him and hamper other moves that could improve their team. if they cave, we're out rui and dlo (meh) and some protected picks. he's in an option year, so it's a cp3 situation...but they won't. they'll just lock him up and ensure their ship goes down with kawhi's knees.

i just mentioned randle because ny is doing fine without him and he's paid well. he'll move for whatever big fish trade they make, and might be a third team pickup for minimal assets.

jerami grant's another guy to keep an eye on. portland isn't close to winning. can we sell him on being a third guy and get his agent to ask for a move here? rui/vando (though he's my guy)/pick seems fair.

Yep. He'll gladly let him walk before trading with us.

I've been thinking about that one. My preferred path is to flip one or two of our one way mid rotation players for a two way one. Grant has been that and can be that, can you still get him to buy in defensively and go back to being 3rd on the call sheet offensively? I'd just want to know where his head is at before approaching a trade.

Best case for that role is Bridges but Brooklyn is stuck in denial about the state of their team.

could lebron and AD sell grant on the idea that he'd get 15+ FGAs here? tell him he's part of a big three with two hall of famers in a glamor market? beats the hell out of the same deal with russ.

I don’t think Trae is going to command a high price given the flaws in his game but we will see.

yeah, like helin said the other day, teams are going to be interested in murray and willing to give up more for him. atlanta can afford to kind of play those offers against each other (see how much they can get for either and act accordingly).

a team with salary bloat should look at young, imo. teams like ours that don't really have dead-weight salary should be very careful.
