definitely would have preferred KJ but i like this move also

looks like the door is open for young's exit though. don't really mind it but he's our only SF at this point. not sure what the FO plans on doing about that

Yeah. But we have a shot. Some things would likely have to go pretty well, but its possible now. Hilbert has to just find close to himself, Kobe needs to remain somewhat healthy and Russell an Randle need to play as good as we think they can. If those things game happen, we are right there in the thick of it. Now this t talk about the Bulls is interesting. Want to see whats going on there.

I'd rather let the rooks start, even if Lou is getting 30 mins a night. I think he's more comfortable coming off thy bench (like Crawford), he has more freedom and opportunities. It also helps prevent Scott running Kobe into the ground again by accident. And Lou will stay fresh for when he has to start in Kobe's place when the Mamba rests.

True, but we need someone to play the 40 games he's gonna miss.

Just like Randle and Boozer last year. I think Russell will be brought along slowly. Too much pressure too young does more damage than good. I'm a little old school in this. You earn your way all the way.

    A. Brown and Nance. I'm still holding out hope that KJ McDaniels is in the cards, or that Taj Gibson rumor is a 3 way where we get a sfs in return.

They've already got the expectations to be good next season so unless they're absolutely killing it won't be any type of cinderella / surprise.

A lot of crazy, low-percentage, shots with no play creation in that highlight reel. Ok, call me cynical, but I may be the cautious detractor about this move.

Remember when Ron Artest would take some very unwarranted shots? It's fine if you make them, but infuriating if you don't. Based on that highlight tape alone, it seems like he could be a similar player in terms of his shot selection. That scares me.

On the bright side, it seems like he can make a high percentage of shots while getting fouled, and he did average 15 ppg off the bench last season. I want whatever is best for the purple and gold, but the last thing we need a shot jocker. Honestly, I won't judge him until I see him in a Lakers uniform and how he develops into his role this season, but I am very cautious right now.

Ok, you all can go grab your pitchforks now.

It's OK. He's coming off the bench (behind D'Angelo, Clarkson, Kobe) sooner or later. Streaky shooters have their value as a 6th man.

yeah, I'd prefer to keep young. I'm still attached to him despite last season. I can't quit him.

Well this one came out of nowhere. I never saw us having a chance at him because he seemed like the type who wouldn't go from a playoff team to a non-playoff team and could have a pretty big list of teams to choose to sign with. I guess maybe he doesn't look at us that way with our recent moves and with him joining us. I was genuinely afraid we were going to have to pick players off the scrap heap at the end of free agency, but instead we've picked up IMO 2 of the better bench players in the league, very nice signing.

If we cut Kelly and Sacre now it'll be a bonus.

Watching that highlight tape that @Snake Eyes is talking about...

    1. Did the Raptors EVER run an offense or did they just have Lou isolated at the top 95% of the time?
    2. He looks like a smaller Nick Young... I'm really thinking Nick is out. I can't see those two co-existing well.
    3. Dude draws foul at an (if you're on the other team) annoyingly high rate. I love that now that he's a Laker.
    4. He's always drifting on his shot but it looks pretty clean. Weird.

i like sweet lou a lot so I'm happy with this. only thing is, clarkson seems to have a similar play style and so I'm not sure how thats going to work. it could work really well for both of them or poorly for one or the other.

Byron will let him know if he's not happy with his shot selection, you got to think, straight up.

Man, I was gone all day but my buddy kept texting me about our signings this afternoon. I can't even believe the work Mitch has done. I love Lou! Plus Bass? Wow!! What a great holiday weekend for us Laker fans. I feel like we've at least got a shot at the playoffs with this roster assuming good health. Seems like we may not even be done yet.
