jeanie and the general FO operation is definitely a long-term problem, but i just don't see much happening there. a replacement-level coach for ham has us firmly in the playoffs right now, even with the injuries, imo. unfortunately, another year of lebron and AD both playing 70+ games seems unlikely. we fumbled a ring chance this year. especially if boston has any injuries. healthy boston probably blasts us regardless.
zero chance they'd beat denver unless one of jokic/murray went down that's the only reason why i'm not as angry about this season as i would be
i feel like murray isn't going to make it four rounds. but if he made it three we were doomed there, too.
I think that's also why I'm not that upset about the season. We definitely could have been better but I still feel like we'd lose to the Nuggets and Boston.
yeah, though i enjoyed last year's playoff run and felt like we could have taken a round or two again this year, minimum. minny and okc are super vulnerable upper seeds, imo.
Every team currently ranked 6-10 is basically in the same position. Win or risk sliding down to the 10th spot. This thing could end up in a 4 way tie
I’m upset about this season because of our idiotic coach. It would have been 10x more enjoyable watching a well structured team. Anyway, Bronny will arrive this summer to save us! Oh, right, he’s all hype and very little substance.
possible and plausible/probable are different things. but i'll happily eat a big ol' plate o' crow if everyone suddenly decides to comply and start losing for us.
No Bron, Rui, or Austin in that period. Sitting 3 of our best 4 available players and the one who was in (DLO) didn't have it against GS.
3 guard lineup too Ham is killing this team. We could have had a shot We lost last season for a combined -24 against Denver. In another series, we could have stolen a game or 2 and change the momentum. They've less depth too. But yeah, they play much better than us for sure and I don't see us beating Denver AND Boston. We could also be swept in the Finals by Boston too, so maybe it's for the better. Our next chance for contention relies on AD's health and the ability to get Luka, Booker, Tatum or Ant the next couple years. Not easy
No , just step down and pass the reigns to his younger brothers Jesse and Joey Buss . Lakers need to hire employees at key positions based on skills and competencies , not based on relationships as Jeanie does . It has nothing to do with "getting over it" , I just want the Lakers to be good to great on a regular basis again ..
I think they'd do a better job because they're better at the basketball stuff. BUT I think we'd largely have the same problems -- money. Lakers are NBA poor. Mom and pop shop for the biggest team in the sport isn't going to cut it regardless of who's making the decisions.
Yeah, this team really is a 10th place one- can barely beat the third and fourth string Memphis guys. SMH.
Yeah, glad we pulled out a win especially tonight when everything else went our way in the standings. But that was embarrassing to say the least. They had G leaguers out there against our starters and we barely squeaked a win.
GG Jackson is another guy we passed on in the 2023 draft in the 2nd round. We really uncharacteristically fumbled the ball last year draft wise.
In a huge...HUGE...game...Lakers win. That's what went right. They barely beat a team of G-Leaguers and 10-dayers though. I had hardly heard of most of the MEM guys. Not encouraging. That's what went wrong. Maybe the longer the days get the more D-Lo loses his ju-ju. It's now April 12th and he was 4/3/10 in 35 mins. 0-5 from downtown. Not encouraging as we approach the 2nd season. We had Pippen Jr earlier this season.
Right: GSW and the Queens lost. Wrong: Shouldn’t have been that close of a game against a cellar dwelling team.
I didn’t get to see the game and I think I’m glad. How the hell do we need AD and Bron to play 40+ minutes to beat a bunch of guys who could be asking if you want fries with that next year?
The worst win of the Bron-AD era. It took 43 & 41 minutes from hall of famers, two of the 10 best players in the league to beat a G-League lineup who's backups will go back to their day job or overseas next week when the Grizz season is over. Took a couple big plays from Bron in the final 2 minutes to squeak out the 3 point win against a "team" who hasn't played together and failed to crack 100 in half of their games this month heading into last night I know the old adage about people are most dangerous when they have nothing to lose. I get that. BUT when there's such a drastic skill level discrepancy between our 8th man and their second best player, it's no longer relevant.
