The very last thing a billionaire 39 year old guy should be doing is trading blows with an animal with an IQ < 100. Nothing to be gained.

GS is very good theoretically with Dray Wiggins, kuminga, and Steph and whoever at the 5 but man are they small. As good as their individual defenders and athletic they don't have any real shot blocking and they can get bullied on the glass.

They were up big against the Clippers but I thought Zubac size (thanks again Magic still a wtf move) was big plus for the cippers

Bev's pod numbers were so low that he had to branch out and become a Woj to get any traction.

Hoping Gallo goes to Milwaukee though.

Uh oh. Not happy about them trying to send him to LA in a Bron deal

Also another shot of Cray Dray last night

He's primed for his first shot in a lead role

Wow .... Klay wanting no part of Steph's hand looked just like Reaves when he was pissed at Ham and ignoring his hand thing.

I’m not as down on Trae as a lot of you. In a vacuum, I’d love to have him on this team as a long term part of the core alongside AD. 25 year old point guards that can consistently put up ~30 points and 10 assists on high volume three point shooting don’t grown on trees. I know Atlanta isn’t great right now, but a few years ago they were in the ECF. Their roster right now is not great so I don’t think their struggles are Trae’s fault.

I just don’t want to gut the team and all our remaining draft capital for him.

The last part is the problem, because that’s exactly what will happen. The problem isn’t Trae, it’s his contract, he makes 43 mil next season, and 46 mil the season after that (49 mil the next, but that season has an ETO). I don’t want to do Westbrook part 2, depth wins as long as you put the right players around your 2 stars, and as far as I’m remembering now, 3 stars hasn’t won for a little while now. BUT, if we are looking at this as a LeBron replacement thing, Trae and AD are the new 2 stars in a couple years, maybe, but yeah we’d have to rebuild the depth most likely.

I like Trae and he's a heck of an offensive player. But real question - is he way better than this current version of Dlo we have now? Also why is Atlanta going to move him? I have not heard that they are willing to do so and after their hesitation with Murray at the deadline I have no inclination that they are going to deal Trae at all and certainly not in a trade involving Dlo. As ever it takes two to tango.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the guys we have on the roster and would rather make a smaller move than a blockbuster one for a third star that costs us all our assets. I mean maybe for Donovan Mitchell, but again he's near the top of the conference in the East on Cleveland. Is he going to want to give up on that? And more likely if he did he would want NY.

I'd rather make a smaller move and change coaches.

DLO can make this go away in the playoffs.

I continue to think Trae would do well here with AD and LeBron and would not necessarily be against this move if the deal is structured right.

Trae is a losing player. No defense chucker. No thank you.

Trae is one of the least efficient one way stars in the league. No no and no. For half the price, sure. You can work around his inefficiency. There's 6 players or so I'd be willing to go the 3 star route for and Trae is nowhere near that list. You can't strip your team of all its depth and surround them by minimum players for a Trae Young. You can't do that for any of the three names we're linked to. I'd listen to the Mitchell deal because of the post Bron pairing, but I think I ultimately turn that one down too. So would he, if he leaves the second best team in the East (that would be strange) he'll go to MSG or Brooklyn.

Is Trae a good 3 point shooter? No. Is he a good shooter in general? No. Is he a ball stopper? Yes. Does he give you anything defensively? Nope. Has he had issues with prior coaching? Yes. Teammates? Yup.

He's a marketable star who can sell tickets, that's the extent of his worth as a Laker.

37% from 3 this year and 34% last year. League average is 37%.

43% FGs the past two years.
League average FG% for a PG this year is 45%

You guys enjoy Westbrook’s TOs? Guess who has 100+ more TOs than him over the past five years? Guess who leads the league in TOs in that span, averaging 4 per game? You guessed it Mr Young.

When he's hot, sure he has Steph range and it looks fun. That's what you're paying for. The fire burns out quick and isn't sustainable to warrant the dozen red flags.

    100% this.

But I'm starting to feel that it may actually happen. I'll be so pissed if we trade for him and not Murray. And he costs more! Well, trusting Rob on this.

I guess it's Klutch pushing this agenda.
Should it happen...do you think pairing him with Caruso could help protect him on defense? Thing is, Reaves would have to play 3 and we would be super small. Can't think of an optimal combination of guys that can make Trae work, considering our current roster

I also think LeBron may be envisioning a move soon

I’d love Mitchell but just can’t see the path to it.

I have exactly the same opinion. Dude is entertaining to watch when he catches fire from 3 pt, but like Westbrook, he's just not the type of player that will ever be a 1st or 2nd option on a championship team.
