Totally disagree with this sentiment. This sh*t has been going on for years. Once in awhile we get lucky. The league went berserk over the Pau trade, way before we got Pelinka. Teams hated it when we got Wilt. The League was not nearly as wealthy in those days and they were completely dependant on the big markets. Without them, the league might have folded, so all those owners just sucked it up. Now the league is solvent and doing pretty danged well, the owners b**** about everything. They do not want to see a single team dominate like in the old days and they are going to do everything in their power to keep it from happening. In their minds, the Lakers have won enough and should go decades without another ring. Anything that breaks our way, they will complain.

Doesn't seem to work that way with Boston, are Golden State.

I kind of think it does, just not quite as apparent. I mean everyone hates California just a bit more than Massachusetts. Because we are getting ready to move out of state, we have joined a few online groups about moving away and man, the hate for California is the most fungible thing out there. It seems that everyone entering areas and leaving California hates this state with a passion. Unfortunately it extends to all our teams and the Lakers the most. Just remember that the hate is ONLY because we have been a winner for so long. It's like that video Kobe made where all the fans in other arenas are hating on him. They don't hate him because he is good, they hate him because he is great.

I'm just glad that the media is at least acknowledging there might be a Laker tax instead of pretending we were all making it up.

I'm fine with this, I think O'Neale is overrated as a 3&D guy. First of all, he's only actually like 6'4". Their three-point shooting numbers are pretty similar for their careers, Prince has been a better shooter this year but O'Neal's percentages are a little higher over the course of his career. Defensively, I'm not sure how much better than Prince he actually is now, if at all. He was the perimeter stopper on that #1 seed Jazz team that got shredded by PG and Reggie Jackson even after Kawhi tore his ACL.

I get all the jokes and memes about Prince being Ham’s favorite, but trading Prince would have been a bad move given most of the available options.

I think Prince is better than Royce already. And we use all of our minimum contract players, so you can’t just think of them as salary filler. That’s another rotation player we’re down. Also, I think you would need to add potentially TWO minimum players to Prince’s contract to match O’neale.

All that AND second rounders? For someone who is shooting 38% from the field and 36% from three BEFORE the inevitable Laker shooting tax?

    Yeah, hard pass.

He’s a much better defender than Prince. Our issue all year has been our reliance on only two guys on the floor at once who can bother their opponent( AD and one of Cam or Vando). This has been our recipe for losing a lot of games.
Our offense has actually improved as the season has moved along.
Yeah, the Laker tax was real on this one considering he ended being moved for two seconds, but throwing in either Wood or Hayes would not have been much of a loss.
Also, let’s not forget that Prince couldn’t hit anything throughout the first quarter of the season.
Prince is at 39% from three and O’Neal is a tick below 37%.

i think prince is probably a better player than oneale, but it's close. add that we'd lose another player and some picks, nah.

feels like the press is killing our lack of action at the deadline, but i'm not really upset by it.

i do wish that when we had a crapton of vet mins that guys like oneale would have been available for them and 2nds. that would have been nice. phx got bailed out.

not sure why it matters who has exceptions next year; it's not like you get more if you stay there with no bird rights.

bummer that he's considering dallas. i actually thought there was some turbulence there when he was there, despite the wcf finals trip.

i think we need him more than dallas does, though i suppose they also lack a credible backup pg.

Dinwiddie moves differently, I think he was talking about getting paid, in bitcoin in Brooklyn.

He had some success playing with Luka, when Dallas made it to the Conference Finals. TBH.. I have never seen him, saying that playing in LA, is a big thing for him.

At the moment, he's probably the best available player though.

Yeah and he has more chances of cracking the lineup/big minutes here too. He'll never play together with Luka/Kyrie, while here it only takes DLo sucking in a given series for example.
Playing with LeBron could persuade him too, I think it's an experience that many should think about, especially at this stage of Spencer's career

Well..Dinwiddie said that Lebron would be THE GOAT, if he won 1 more championship..so there's that.

Trae is shooting an abysmal 43% from 2 and only 38% from three. His usage rate is super high and we already have THREE current starters who play below average defense.
I think it would be a massive mistake to trade for him.

Lol and this is why there’s a Lakers tax when we try to trade for someone. The rest of the league hates us because we are hard to compete with in the buyout and free agency market.
