Well, we played the only other card other than young talent which was just being the Lakers and the opportunities you get. And we were laughed at for that. But it's either that or playing with a developing team.
This black can be a solid guy and we'd still be fine. Russell and Randle need to be beasts. If that occurs then going into a FA meeting is easier because you can drag those two with you into the meeting.
Hibbert gets his head right and we just picked up a bona fide all star talent. (head "very" right of course) I don't see this as a one year and done. Him and Upshaw (also with head right in this glass half full scenario) is a damn nice big man rotation. And very big targets for slick passing D'Angelo Russell.
You need talent to make the playoffs. Young or not. Talentwise, I don't see PHX having a huge advantage over us. They're a lottery team without LMA, just as we are. And not nearly as much cap flexibility for 2016. It's water under the bridge now, but our FO must do a better job of selling our team to FA's.
I think we need more ball handling guards. 1 - Russell/Clarkson* 2 - Clarkson/Ellington/J.Brown 3 - Bryant/Young/A.Brown 4 - Randle/Nance/Kelly 5 - Hibbert/Black/Upshaw/Sacre
Yeah hopefully him and Nance will be ready to contribute by the end of the year, like Clarkson last year.
I said it earlier, Google "Anthony Brown Sleeper Pick." He was getting a lot of love before the draft. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nba-draft-shootaround-whos-your-sleeper-pick/ http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...raft-sleepers-in-the-later-parts-of-the-draft http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/6/...rs-anthony-brown-michael-frazier-joseph-young
Reading the draft report on Brown from Rydorker at CL (apologies for spelling, and site is down, can't go check) he was not big at all on this guy beyond being able to shoot the ball. If I recall, slow, not athletic and not good on defense. The D guy will be Nance maybe at times at 4 and 3. He pretty much was really high on him.
I'll take Corey Brewer from the Rockets with the remainder of the cap. A Hibbert/Brewer haul isn't necessarily what we hoped for, but it's two pieces we need and both do it well. 7 out of 10. A step in the right direction.
