Lakers point guard Gabe Vincent is considered a negative asset in the league.

This was reported by HoopsHype journalist Michael Scotto.

“ Gabe Vincent is definitely seen as a negative asset in the league right now because he got hurt and wasn't able to show whether he was a good fit for the Lakers or not.
There's also a label that Miami 's role players aren't as good on other teams, with the exception of Max Strus , who plays for Cleveland,

NBA fandom in general has gotten too asset obsessed. If a guy is paid a cent more than someone thinks they should be they're a "negative asset". The Thunder (who are obviously very good) are supposedly the model franchise in the league right now because they have a million first rounds picks coming, nevermind teams that have actually won a championship recently (or even just a playoff series, which the Thunder haven't since 2016). God forbid we even suggest that a team with no chance to win a championship this year like the Magic or the Spurs take DLo's $17 million contract in a three-team deal and get some decent point guard play around their young guys for a few months. Don't you know its a "bad contract"!

Take the OG for IQ/Barrett trade a few weeks ago. I saw a ton of "lol at the Knicks they overpaid" or "what are the Raptors doing, they should have gotten draft picks instead" takes on NBA Twitter/forums when it happened. Or my personal (least) favorite - "what are they doing, they're just treadmill teams." Guess what, both are better basketball teams after the trade. That used to matter more.

    Yeah, good take.
It's championship or bust. All about them picks. OKC future is bright, but it still has to prove a lot to be at the level of Denver, Milwaukee, Boston, Philly or Miami who are contending and will be for the years to come.

OKC will have an identical situation as they had 10 years ago. 3 superstars and tough decisions to make. Last time they let Harden walk and kept Ibaka which ruined their chances. How will it be this time? I think they do have a legitimate chance to win it all until they have to pay the last Max, probably to Chet in like 5 years or so. They can maximize the rookie contracts of their core if they are willing to pay. I'm surprised they are not more active in the market and will be surprised they don't make a move until the deadline. They have like 4 or 5 picks this year and can make some interesting moves

yep, this is one of my go-to rants. anticipated value always trumps current/actual value. it's weird.

Cool. Don't mind this if what's purported is accurate.

    Still need another move, though.

if enough assets are left over, rui as the centerpiece for brown could make some sense. he's cost-controlled for two more years, and weirdly enough, after moving siakam and anunoby, the raptors don't really have a 3/4 other than otto porter. we'd have to add a pick swap (perhaps unprotected) at minimum, i think.

    murray/gabe
    reaves/cam/max
    brown/prince
    lebron/vando
    AD/wood

that's a pretty fearsome squad. just missing one more big body.

Yeah thats pretty much my ideal scenario. Keep the core. Basically you a DLo like player but who is more athletic and theoretically better for the playoffs and fix the POA defense issues.

Would Portland ever buy out Ayton ? I kid I think

Defend 1-4 and can either play PG or screener on offense. Swiss Army Knife kind of roleplayer who can fix a lot matchup problems.

Basically he can give you what Gabe was supposed to do as backup PG and he be what Max wil be in a few years

He played PG for Denver when Murray was out a ton last year. You don't want to be your #1 PG but as a backup guard just adds a ton in term of flexibility. Great fit with Reaves for example in a 4th quarter lineup as he can bring up the floor to help AR or he can play a Draymond like PnR threat with Lebron/AR

Gotta look at winsgpan over height. His is 6'9 and that allows him to be a very versatile defender

Yes to Brown for Rui+pick, because it makes us defensively better with far more flexibility, since you can put Brown on anyone 1-3 and he's going to do a nice job. Brown for a guard is a hard pass from me. abeer's team above looks solid, except that Gabe died from the knee injury, but there's always AR & Bron to do some playmaking. This opens up more time for Wood, who is showing promise on this team in terms of scoring/shooting/shotblocking. Overall chemistry would be improved. Coaching would still suck, since Brown would be coming off the bench. Why? Because Prince exists.

I'm not in love with Brown but the team is. They view his as a playoff performer. I wouldn't deal Dlo for him, but for someone one-dimension like Rui? sure... especially in conjunction with a Murray for Dlo move.
