It’s the massive amount of DLos and Murray’s contracts combined. AR is on a very cap friendly deal.

Murray shoots the same 47% from the field and only a couple of percentages less than DLo from three, but averages 6 more PPG, all while playing next to one of the biggest chuckers in the game.
I don’t know where all the false narratives are coming from.
I’m actually not expecting this to go down anymore, and that’s okay.
Problem is: will DLO’s mental state be okay if this doesn’t happen?

I do, and does Jeannie and Rob.
Also, GMs around the League view DLo and the amount he makes as a “negative asset.”
    Nobody wants him.

TBH..talent wise..Russell/Murray would be a superior duo to Reaves/Murray. The problem is, that Reaves is more reliable as a playoff performer. Technically..Austin, Rui, and Vincent, would match salaries for Murray and Bogdonavic. It would cause, a mini riot around here, if Rob made that trade tho.

Something will shake..D'Angelo is a talented guy and could fit in a lot of places, I'd still keep an eye on Washington for Jones and Gafford. D'Angelo, and Gabe would be a salary match, I think D'Angelo would thrive statistically with Kuz and Poole in Washington myself. Or insert Prince, Hayes, and JHS, and for Shamet.

It wouldn't be a sexy blockbuster trade, but Austin, Rui, Jarred, Cam, Jones, Gafford and Shamet...that's a pretty solid young core around Lebron and AD.

It would be insane to keep dlo instead.of Reaves. Reaves is just a better basketball player and his deal is awesome

Yeah but looking long-term big picture..Reaves and Gabe plus a pick could get Murray, then D'Angelo and Rui could be flipped for Grant. That's worth the risk IMO.

Who would have a better starting 5, than Lebron/AD/Vanderbilt/Murray/and Grant?

Then why did Jeannie and rob sign him to it? How would you know what GM’s around the league think of DLO? Please educate the class on your insider knowledge.

i'm not positive reaves is a better overall basketball player than russell. he's a better playoff performer (so far), but most stats have them about even in pretty much all ways.

that said, reaves is the more valuable asset because a) he's got a better reputation around the league right now (we didn't help here with dlo*, imo) and b) he's locked up at low money for three years. those two factors would be huge for smaller market teams that can't keep FAs or get guys to sign for less money.

anyway, i'd still prefer to keep reaves if possible, but most of that is just fan emotion. if was being totally logical and someone told me we could get murray (borderline all star quality player also on a team-friendly deal for the rest of his likely prime) for reaves/rui**/protected pick, i'd probably jump at it.

*don't bench him when you have no other pgs, nor put him on the trading block two months before the deadline

**i think rui is actually the negative asset, tbh. he's overpaid by a factor of two right now, and he has two more years on the deal.

Yeah. While I’d prefer to either keep Reaves or use him for a bigger fish, I don’t see him as better than DLO overall either.

I’m particularly worried that a guy like Murray won’t be able to get the ball to AD the way DLO does.

There may be a chance to sell high with AR which rarely seems to happen for us as most of our guys seem to either walk for nothing or we completely destroy their value before trading which would be twice now with DLO.

Overall, I think we might be better off keeping both and bringing in one of the guys like Brogdon, Rozier, etc.

    we will see.

if we could use gabe and a pick swap or rui and pick swap to get a guy like tyus jones or schroder, i think we solve a lot of problems.

i just think lebron wants dlo gone, so that's where this is going.

    Option 1: Stay put
    Option 2: Shake it up
    Option 3: Split the difference

I'm out on the 3 star model, but like Spider Mitchell as a Laker. Trae, no no no. If he's making a DLO sized contract, OK... you can work around his defects. He's not a franchise player on a serious team.

    The LaVine/Murray options

    Smaller deals
No to *that* Bridges. I'll gladly take the other one when the Nets realize they aren't going anywhere.

I also don't think Brown fits in the "smaller deal" category based on the Raptors ask or market competition for him. Wizards are also currently asking too much for Jones. Hopefully that changes as we get closer to the deadline.

Fifth hand information, so make of it what you will, but I've actually heard LeBron and AD both like DLO.

Definitely a closer connection with Murray there though so again, we will see.

Not interested in Bridges at all.

Interesting other thoughts there. I'm honestly okay with standing pat or making a small trade if we could actually land Donovan Mitchell this summer.
