His D will probably be better on this team than Atlanta which is an all out offensive team. Murray is bigger and more athletic and can't be targeted over and over like Dlo.

Yep. They'll find one if they haven't already. Things can fall apart, and I'm sure there are contingency plans, but I wouldn't mind this at all.

Same age and his contract kicks in for another 4 years starting next season.

he's a better player but dlo probably a better shooter/passer.
from my feelings regarding this team is one hole they didn't fix and they created another hole
    1) losing Dennis has been a disaster - lost their only guard POA defender and a guy who could get you buckets when the offense stalled
    2) needing a two-way player who can guard Jamal Murray. I think Cam can be this guy but his injuries are worrying me.

I guess I don't think Dlo in a vacuum is a problem and I actually think he is a plus - the issue is if you don't have a third guard who can make up for Reaves and Dlo's weaknesses which are defense and general lack of athleticism. Murray fixes the athleticism parts and like I said I've been advocating for him for year but his defense is Westbrick like off the ball this year..

It would be amazing if they could get back Murray and Brown while keeping Reaves. Can't ask for more in terms of Pelinka - doesn't seem realistic to me. Will the raptors take a pick swap for Brown?

He covers the Hawks. If the hold up is more so the 3rd team and less so bickering over Austin, I think this thing is all but done.

Irwin threw out the suggestion of getting the Magic involved with Harris going to ATL and Orlando getting DLO (he'd help there) and a 2nd for their trouble.

Some other expiring options for ATL:

Rob could find a way to get they done, and I guess the only concern would be Ham moving forward.

Raptors have 4 picks they've acquired so far this season; wondering if they'll want Christie even with lending RFA?

Orlando is a good suggestion. They need the playmaking and shooting. Franz went down and they spiraled downwards.

What about Detroit, too? They'll have the cap space to sign Russell if he balls out for them until the end of the season. If he doesn't, you can sign him to a more reasonable deal or cut bait. Goes for any third team involved, IMO.

if Dennis wouldn't mind coming back, I'd be down to give the Raptors, Gabe + a few seconds for him, and they'd probably take it.

Dlo definitely has a higher ceiling on this team offensively, but he probably has a lower floor. He's a better shooter and passer and has been great overall this year. The team just can't forget about his series against Denver.

    6ppg on 32% shooting and 13% from 3.

That and his previous track record in the playoffs doesn't inspire confidence. I like Dlo, but if he's playing like that on offense plus his defense? Thats why they want to upgrade him.

i'm fine with trying to upgrade, just not with dumping to dump because of a bad playoff series. i remember when we let horry go (to SA) after he stunk it up for us one playoffs, and then he won a couple more rings.

Definitely agree w/you. However, I think they structured a contract in such a way to move it if an upgrade presented itself. I think to management and company (while he may not be the better fit offensively), he's a an Upgrade (Murray), and I hate to say this, but he's with Klutch. Age and contract aren't bad, additionally.

Sucks. I like Russell, but it is what it is.

I feel the same way. I wouldn't trade him for any other package that's out there but I feel you gotta do the Murray one. I think he will be a playoff upgrade but there is also a chance he underwhelms in the bright lights.

i'd do the murray deal, too. i just don't think it's a real option. you know someone's going to outbid a non-reaves package.

Veteran point guard Kyle Lowry fell out of the Miami Heat’s starting lineup in recent days, and more change could be coming for Lowry and the Heat. The Heat continues to explore trades involving Lowry ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline, according to multiple league sources. Lowry holds value on the trade market with his sizable expiring $29.7 million salary

Dennis to LA,Lowry,Gabe and Hayes to Toronto
    Does it work?

With it being out there, now you need the weight of Klutch to help out. Have Rich Paul put it out there he wants to be in LA. Sure a team can try to change his mind (he is under contract for quite awhile) , but some teams don't want to deal with the hassle of trading for someone who doesn't want to be there.

he said he'd like to play in SA already, and you know popovich won't let our current offer go without a counter that ups the price.

not to mention the main barrier to our deal with atlanta is (supposedly) the expiring money, and miami (another place after murray and as desirable a landing spot) is armed with lowry's expiring and similar other assets to ours.

    Latest from Stein...

    Lakers and Murray

Bucks interested in Murray but lack the assets
LaVine: hurt, available and unwanted (that's probably his Tinder log line, too)
KJ Martin can be had for a good 2nd

Tyus Jones is such a Miami guy. I've heard rumors of them and Rozier as well, but that certainly wouldn't count as a "cheaper" PG than Murray.
