Indiana wants to get rid of Hibbert like no one's business. It's bad when even Larry Bird doesn't like you. Oh well maybe a change of scenery will do him good.
I doubt we get Hibbert AND a pick for nothing. Indy knows we have a need here. They probably ask for Sacre/Kelly or a protected pick or something. This doesn't solve our depth issues though at PG. I wonder what the plan is there.
How much tax are they gonna pay if they keep him ? What are they with and without him cap wise? Will removing him cause them to go under the lux tax and not be repeat offenders?
Clarkson...then Russell. As the season progress...flip the script. There is a need for a reliable small forward.
Well if it's Sacre/ Kelly...good do it, but not any of our draft picks, Ideally send Young for him.... PG...I say we roll with Clarkson, Russell and Brown, let 'em play take no PT from them so they develop
Okay but then we need depth at the SG/SF spot. If Russell/Clarkson are at PG then you've got Kobe/Jabari Brown Nick Young/Anthony Brown That doesn't strike much confidence in me. Especially with money still available to add pieces.
No need to trade them any of our players. We can just add him into our available cap space like signing a player. The only reason to send anyone back is if Indy wants someone specifically and/or to shed salary in an attempt to create more cap space to sign someone else.
Who cares?? We don't actually WANT that bum JSM. Not when there's still better options like Koufaloof and Hibbert.
I'm curious how does that work where the other team doesn't take back salary? I know we did it with Houston last year with Lin but wasn't sure how that wored out. I mean I agree I don't want to give up any of our young players and if that works hell yeah.
I will find it unbelievable if they do a Lin deal with us on him. If that happens this is a reason to be very, very happy. He plugs the gap at the 5, especially for this defensively challenged team, for next year. If he out performs expectations we have his Bird rights, to keep him, or trade him in a sign and trade.... all for nothing, I like it
I still think Caron Butler would be a reasonable stop gap at the 3. He and 24 are close. Anthony Brown can fill in at that slot for depth. Give the newbies minutes...the Brown kids. Let's develop them. Learn on the job...see what they have.
I don't want him, but I at least want the right of first refusal. If we can't pull off one of these trades, I don't see Kosta coming here, and Amare is near the top of the remaining crop (as discussing as that is). I mean, I guess we could always select from the 35 or older list T posted a couple pages back.
