3 first round picks is kind of crazy considering it was reported earlier he was going to test the free agent market no matter what.

He must have changed his mind: Indiana tends to be frugal/smart management. They've rebuilt that team through the draft so many times now that I would be shocked for them to just to give up picks without a contract signing as well

That being said this is insane: I'm a big fan of Siakam but he isn't worth 3 first rounders unless they are protected

They've been gunning for them the most in recent weeks and consistently. They didn't want to give up some of their younger guys, (so if they didn't have to) I'm guessing that's why the 3 picks.

Want to see if this one actually goes through or falls apart like the Kings one and want to see what the depth chart looks like after, but Pacers could be a legit threat for a decent window.

Seems like Bruce Brown would be in the trade, I wonder if Toronto would re-route him somewhere else.

Classic Pacers, they'll end up with another 45-50ish win team without every truly tanking. If Mathurin and/or Walker take a leap in the next year or two they could get really dangerous.

He was. But we won’t give up an extra FRP. In hindsight we should have when we can only pick guys who are good in interviews and don’t eat steaks:Laugh:

graham's contract is only guaranteed for 3 million next year? is this one of those situations where his deal only counts the amount of the guarantee in trade, or is it old school where the hawks could shed serious cash in the deal? if so, i don't know that we can compete with that. and you can bet your a** popovich will try to keep murray from playing here.

if everyone but miller/ball/williams is available in charlotte, could we do:

    dlo/gabe/hayes

    for

    rozier/richards

i think it would get us below the tax line, and it would give us a center with some size. we take on rozier's large contract, they take on gabe's less expensive one that runs a similar length. i still think dlo is a better player and fit than rozier, but if we absolutely must get rid of him, this is something i can live with.

and i'd still do the straight swap of dlo for tyus jones, which also drops us under the tax, i think.

i only mention the tax angle because we're cheap and any year where we're this close to that line, i'm guessing we're trying to get under it.

What is Toronto plan's here? If they are trying to tank for one year would they consider moving Brown and Schroeder?

Interesting. If he got 3 picks, I'd think guys like Murray might go for two and or one and a solid young player.

Bulls will have to sweeten the pot to get off of Lavine's deal.

It definitely makes you think. Super sad. I started posting on CL when I was... 18? Now I'm turning 38. This is another reminder, but unfortunately my LB namesake gave us the biggest one ever.

yeah, i'm 45 and probably started at ol' clublakers at age 23 or so. bummer that i've spent so much time jackin' around on message boards.

anyway, siakam didn't net toronto any player that figures as part of long term plans, which is weird to me considering the anunoby deal. the picks toronto is getting sort of blow. they must have been told he was walking in the summer or had decided they wouldn't meet his price. i guess it's better than losing him for nothing (see: dallas with brunson), but man...that's not much to show for a guy of his stature, imo: indy's pick this year (meh), the worst of a smorgasbord of picks this year (meh), and indy's 2026 pick (could be good, but probably late lotto/mid first at best).

maybe they flip brown for a good first to a contender, i guess? i know darvin ham would play that guy 57 minutes a game at center.
