I've stayed out of the thread, simply because I was on a vacation with the wife.

I gotta say - I don't care. All this "Lakers brand is in shambles" talk means nothing. Just like FAs do not care,
for the most part, about our storied history, they won't care about us being bad or unattractive when we become
    not bad and not unattractive.

To me, screw the moves out of pressure and misplaced expectations of the fans. Fans are idiots, for the most part, me
    including.

Just let the young guys develop, don't make rushed moves and get back at it next year, hopefully with more appeal. If not then do it again.
Doesn't have to be FA we sign. Can be an awesome player we develop.

Why did we go balls to the wall for LMA and not reach out to Harris? I know he is a restricted free agent, but he fits with our "youth" movement (if that is, in fact, where we are heading).

We had no chance is my impression, plus to be spiteful Orlando could have locked us up even longer than the LA debacle is?

Here's another problem we have. I have no clue what our philosophy is from a offensive and defensive standpoint. With Riley we knew we would push the basketball at every opportunity. As bad as the triangle offense would get sometimes under Phil, we at least had a clear cut idea of what kind of personnel was needed to make it go. That can't help our selling point to LMA and other free agents when it's time to talk about the vision of the Lakers brand. What is Byron Scott basketball, and what type of player is needed to make Byron Scott basketball successful?

And by moving on we mean - don't sign Amare or trade JC and Julius for Cousins.

Just get an alive C, with an eye of him being Upshaw backup if the latter doesn't have an episode.

Koufos and Williams. Hibbert and McDaniels. We've got a couple options that won't make me sick. Please do the right things here.

I know we have it bad right now, but Portland.....

They lost 4-5 starters and their 6th man Afflalo. That won't get any news as people will be piling on us, but damn that's a terrible, terrible offseason.

We are going to continue to sit on our a**** :D:D:D

I have to say, your post from a few days ago about the sheer incompetence of our FO was on point. I might be exaggerating your stance, but this is comical at this point.

If we bring back Wes or Hill though...

    Note to Mitch and Co.

Spurs bounced in 1st round - Got LMA
Dallas bounced in 1st round - Got DJ
Bucks bounced in 1st round - Got Monroe

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.

I think most of us are on board regarding their incompetence this off -season. It's been sobering and embarrassing.

Mitch can make it alright by adding a few decent pieces right now...

Let me just say, Doc, that Olshey is well regarded as a FO guy too. I think you and most everyone else here has good reason to strongly question Mitch and the FO for what we haven't accomplished this FA period, but Portland's good FO has had a disaster of an off season in comparison.
