Every Raiders site has proposals/lists for a new QB and Coach. No to Fields, Lance or Murray who have been mentioned. David Shaw does intrigue me more than Harbaugh. Solid, steady and no baggage. I'm willing to give Pierce another year with capable assistants.

I have talked about AOC a couple times since the preseason where I thought he showed a great deal of potential. Many said he was playing against the #2's and therefor we need to limit the praise for his play. Now with a few games into his QB1 career.

First, I think AOC has star (maybe superstar) ability in him. He would easily be my QB1 going forward. Fans are stuck on the flashy QB with all the "tools" which means a ho-hum pocket guy isn't going to light up their boards. I see it differently.

AOC is a pocket QB who can make every throw on the field. He has suffered from being thrown in the fire midseason, playing 3 of the top 5 (I believe thats the stat) defenses in the league this year behind a depleted line and a new OC. He is learning on the fly and has had us in every game even though we came up short in Miami and lost momentum against KC. So what do I see in him? He is composed in the pocket. He commands it. He scans the field quickly and gets through progressions faster than before. His throws are on the money 99% of the time. What he lacks for me currently is the confidence to move out of the pocket to create more time or move to run if needed. I think his lack of looking for the run is what has people missing how good this kid really is but I just don't think it is his game nor has he got comfortable enough in the offense to recognize he may have to get them feet moving. He was the highest rated QB against the Jets, highest against Miami and highest in the whole NFL when we played KC and this isn't with a bunch of dink and dunks but throwing the ball down field. THat is severly overlooked by fans in my opinion.

He has gotten better and sharper with each game. He is still a rookie making some rookie mistakes but he takes ownership of it. He is a leader in the huddle and veteran guys respect him. He is what Carr was suppose to be. I don't think he has holes in his game. I think he has skills he needs to further develop and sharpen. I just finished watching his (AOC) and Devantes presser while I was writing the beginning of this. Devante said that he thinks AOC just needs to trust in his game. Devante wants to win now yet you don't see the frustration with the QB play. He had it with Jimmy. I think that tells you what type of QB Oconnell is to the players. And remember if we go back to those loses and look at the tape there were several times Devante was on target for a big play that got broken up with holding. He, devante, was pissed by the no calls. A couple of those flipped the field (punted) for us. One or two plays can change the outcome of the game.

In the end, to answer the question again..... I think we should give him the keys. I'm already sold on him from what ive seen already. Give him a true off season and come in as QB1 I think he will kill it especially with the weapons we have.

I think Mark's best option is to give Pierce 2-3 years. Every new regime starts everything over. That would be at least a 2 season thing for any new HC. We finally have someone that seems to have us looking like the Raiders Way. I mean we had a game with ZERO penalties. That alone should give him the job. I kid but still they are playing the game better and with the each game it feels like we can beat anyone. Give me AP.

^Yes, I'd like to have Pierce in tow for at least two more seasons at the most. They should look at Dan Campbell as an example.

Yeah, I don't get the Fields talk. Especially at the asking price.
He has great wheels, but he's on pace for fewer than half the yards he rushed for last year, and this is least effective season running the ball. His QBR is 45.1, which is below average, too.

On the plus side, he's only going to be 25 next season, and his TD/INT ratio has improved each season. He could be good, but I've heard two first rounders to get him. We just have too many areas where we can improve to give up on AOC for that.

I think you've nailed it, Puffy. Cousins, Goff, and Stafford have all been above average QBs (or better) without much running game. And the throws he makes with so little #1 reps are crazy.

This was a big step back for the offense. Tough pill to swallow.

I was thinking Bo may have cost himself his chance to be the OC. AOC really hurt himself too. The offense was so lackluster and uninspired. Really disappointing game today.

    Gotta beat the Chargers.

    Reasons for hope:
The Chargers' D has been shredded on the ground of late, surrendering at least 102 yards in five straight, including two games of 197+. Time for the running game to get moving. They've also allowed two QBs to throw for more than 400 yards against hem and two more to throw for 330+.

Easton Stick. He has played reasonably well in the time he has been on the field, but that's only 25 pass attempts' worth of time in his career. He's a massive downgrade from Herbert.

No Allen. Keenan Allen leads the NFL with 108 receptions, but the Chargers will be without him, without his 1243 yards and 7 TDs.

    Reasons for Worry:
Injuries. Starting Center Andre James is out. Starting LT Kolton Miller is out. Starting weapons Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams are questionable, and neither practiced Wednesday. Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby is questionable. He did light work on Wednesday.

Offense. The Raiders are just a bad scoring team. After scoring 30 points against the Giants on 11/5, they have scored 16, 13, 17, and 0. They haven't sniffed 400 yards of total offense in a game this season, and they've topped 100 yards rushing only three times.

Game Script. The Raiders are far too conservative on offense. Too many figures involved in that decision process (Head Coach, OC, and Starting QB) are fighting for their jobs and feeling the pressure. With a predictable running game, injured starting linemen, and an injured RB, the passing game MUST get working.

Just landed in Vegas. I'm hoping to see these boys let the damn ball fly. I don't want to drag my a** down here for another damn loss.

Let's see if um elated or pissed when I get back home in the morning

That was one of the most impressive plays I’ve ever seen. The pick 6.

    Team Success
The Raiders are 6-8. That's third in the AFC West.
There are 4 teams with a worse record.
They're currently 12th in the playoff hunt.

    Digging in...
Their -15 point differential is better than 14 teams in the league.
Seven teams worse are in the AFC.
That would put them on the bubble for the playoffs.

Their Pythagorean Wins are currently 6.6, projecting to 8.0 wins on the season.
Since they've already won 6, that projects to 1.4 wins the rest of the way. That's 7.4 wins.
A 7-win team is definitely not making the playoffs.
    Projected Wins by PD: 7.4

    QB Play
AOC's QBR is 35.4. That means that the team will win roughly 35.4% of games with him starting.
That would be 1.1 more wins, for a final record of 7-10. Again, well outside the playoffs.
    Projected Wins QBR: 7.1

    Trends
Finally, if we look at AOC's six games since becoming the the consistent starter, the Raiders are 3-3, with a point differential of +33.
That's much more favorable football, and the team would trend to about 2.0 more wins.
    Projected Wins TREND: 8.0

    Final Thoughts?
    7.5 wins
